Late goal sinks Sliema
Vittoriosa defeat Floriana to re-open relegation battle
BALZAN defeated Sliema Wan-
derers 1-0 to finally return to
winning ways after seven consec-
utive defeats.
The result for Sliema added
more pressure to the team as they
have now lost four matches from
their last five.
The winning goal arrived on
the 93rd minute. Pedro Calcado
served Jose Luis Armario Negrin
and the latter beat goalkeeper
Glen Zammit with his shot. The
BOV Player of the Match was
awarded to Pedros dos Santos
Calcado.
In the other match, Vittoriosa
Stars blew open the battle against
relegation after they defeated Flo-
riana 2-1.
Oscar Guerrero gave Vitto-
riosa the lead two minutes into
the second half. Floriana scored
the equaliser on the 54th minute
thanks to Igor Coronado. On the
69th minute Ousname Sidibe
scored the winning goal for Vit-
toriosa to make the final score
2-1. BOV Player of the Match was
awarded to Oscar Guerrero.
