Events 44 maltatoday, Sunday, 27 april 2014 Linda Briggs Ltd, a Maltese com- pany specialising in medical tour- ism in Malta, is being filmed for a programme showing the positive side of cosmetic surgery. Linda Briggs has organised two events. With the help of The Spa at St Georges Hotel in St Julian's, Discovery TV will be filming a Bo- tox party. Botox parties are regu- lar events in Europe and held in a proper clinical environment, they are fun for women to attend and it's now considered a beauty product as much as a face cream. To coincide with her 60th birth- day, Linda Briggs has invited friends and patients to The Fortina Spa for a fun-packed evening and a chance for those who have had cos- metic surgery to talk to the camera and give their reactions. The Fortina Spa and Linda Briggs have worked closely together for some years promoting medical tourism and between them have bought in many tourists for den- tistry in Fortdent, based at the For- tina Spa. Linda Briggs also brings in for- eign specialist surgeons at regular intervals, which offer the most up to date techniques that patients are looking for and that will attract them to Malta for their surgery ex- perience. A conscientious 8-year-old stu- dent at Siggiewi Primary School, Nicolai Vella has shown exemplary initiative by sending a letter to oth- er school children residing in his hometown of Siggiewi, to help pro- mote a recent sustainability event as part of HSBC's Water Programme - Catch the Drop campaign, also en- dorsed by the Ministry for Energy & Health. Nicolai chose to offer his sup- port to HSBC's Water Programme in Malta which is aimed at raising more awareness about water con- servation, while involving students in various water projects, encourag- ing their development as pro-active ambassadors for water conservation and environmental sustainability. The student managed to involve students from different schools through his initiative for a connect- ed activity, titled 'Jum is-Siggiewi', that started with a short address from Nicolai himself and featured a forum theatre presentation and vid- eo delivering water facts, followed by a Q&A session with Malta's Head of the Water Policy unit, Manuel Sa- piano. Rennie Mercieca, spokesperson for the Ministry for Energy and Health, thanked the boy's initiative and said, "The energy and commitment shown by Nicolai is a great example to all, as well as a positive sign that the Catch the Drop campaign is be- ing effective at captivating students' imagination and attention. "In fact, this is one of the central objectives of the Catch the Drop Campaign which is reaching out to all students across Malta and Gozo to educate, raise awareness and en- courage students to be participating members of society and bring posi- tive change." On presenting Nicolai with a me- mento, Siggiewi mayor Carol Aqui- lina joined in praise and remarked, "Achieving sustainable fresh water practices calls for a collective ef- fort and education is key if we are to achieve greater sustainability in the long-term, and it is very en- couraging to see younger genera- tions taking an active role to pro- mote environmental initiatives." Various water projects are being organised throughout the Catch the Drop's strategic 3-year cam- paign, which is funded by the HS- BC Group and supported by Min- istry for Energy and Health. Besides raising awareness about water conservation, the pro- gramme also aims at stimulating positive change towards sustain- able fresh water use in Malta and Gozo, instilling further dedication from school students, who were awarded letters of commitment by the HSBC Water Programme for turning their conservation ideas a reality.
