VISUAL ARTS CONTINUES BY APPOINTMENT Retrospective by Norbert Attard Retrospective exhibition by artist Norbert Attard at Gozo Contemporary, 11, Mongur Street, Gharb, Gozo. Art works spanning 40 years will be on display. These include Attard's early paintings, drawings and lino cuts from the formative years, limited edition prints (including the Walled Cities, Mihrab and Kimono series) and abstract paintings from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and photographic prints and sculptures, from his most recent conceptual phase. MAY 17-24 Malta Design Week Now in its second iteration, Malta Design Week (MDW) has one simple premise - To celebrate, promote, and showcase the best Innovation and creativity of Maltese design. This year's edition will take place at Fort St Elmo, Valletta. MDW will provide an opportunity for local designers to flaunt their creative talent in a venue and event that suitably adapts to subject matter. FILM SCREENING MAY 14 Forgotten Bird of Paradise Film screening at Gugar Hangout and Bar, 89A, Republic Street, Valletta at 21:00. British filmmaker Dominic Brown travelled without the knowledge or authority of the Indonesian authorities in order to film Forgotten Bird of Paradise. The documentary provides a rare and moving insight onto the struggle for independence that has gripped West Papua for over 45 years. It Came from the Desert The rock band will be performing at The Rebel Riders 19th Charity Ride (in aid of Simon Borg L-Amiba) at the Mosta Dome parking lot.
