FESTIVALS AUGUST 5-7 Ghaxaq Music Festival This three-day festival promises the best vocal talent and bands that the country has to offer and also foreign bands and singers. Jk as Robbie Williams, Tribali and Federica, Gaia and Friends will entertain audiences in concerts throughout the festival, taking place at the Ghaxaq Grounds. Entrance is free, limited seating to the final concert can be booked at ooii.com.mt at €10 and €15. VIP passes are available at €30. AUGUST 7-10 Delicata Classic Wine Festival 2014 Malta's greatest wine event is back for its 13th year, at the Upper Barrakka gardens in Valletta, from 7.00pm until midnight. Entrance is free. Wristbands and glasses can be purchased for €12 and entitle the holder to try all the wines on offer, as many times as they want. A variety of food options will be available and music by live bands will entertain guests on the night. JULY 25- AUGUST 3 Farsons Beer Festival The much-awaited festival brings together a variety of musical genres across several stages in Ta' Qali. Featuring over 70 beer draught installations, 13 branded bars, 15 food stalls and over 50 local and international artists, the popular open air festival provides a unique setting for all round entertainment. Entrance is free and the live acts begin at 20:00. AUGUST 2 - 31 The Bieganski Art Festival A month-long festival at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, commemorating 100 years from the outbreak of WWI and celebrating art in all its forms. The festival would feature: 75 local and foreign artists with paintings depicting WWI 47 local and foreign artists, exhibiting their works 120 paintings from the Bieganski collection Master Artist Ray Pitre 9x7 ft collection 80 sketches and painting from French trench artist Galey. DANCE AUGUST 9, 10 AFD Just Dance From dancing next to John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in 'Grease', to playing the lead role in 'Fame', Antonia Franceschi who has won London's Time Out Award for "Outstanding Achievement in Dance" will now be presenting her exciting choreography at Pjazza Teatru Rjal on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August. A troup of six dancers from The Royal Ballet, Rambert, Ballet Black, Random Dance and The New York City Ballet will be accompanied live by pianist Yoshiko Sato, cellist Johan Stern and violinist Richard Wade. WORKSHOPS AUGUST 1- 3, 5 M-Island Narratives - Creative Writing Workshops and Literary Events Kei Miller, award-winning writer and tutor, will be facilitating workshops focusing on honing creative writing skills and dealing with the publishing industry. Taking place in the Splendid in Strait Street and the Green Room in Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta, this series of workshops are open for writers of any level working in different forms (poetry, fiction and non-fiction). MUSIC AUGUST 9 The Prodigy Live The Prodigy return to Malta, to the MFCC in Ta'Qali, to bring sweat soaked b-lines and rushing keyboard hooks to their fans.
