OCTOBER 11-NOVEMBER 7 Maltese Confabulations Multidisciplinary exhibition by German artist Bettina Hustchek at Blitz, St Lucy Street, Valletta. Fragments of Maltese reality are interwoven in the various narrations, forming the basis for artistic storytelling and presenting a body of work that is to be understood simultaneously, not chronologically. Opening hours: 10:00 to 15:00 (Tuesday to Thursday); 15:00 to 19:00 (Friday and Saturday). UNTIL OCTOBER 31 Landschaft 2014 An exhibition of studies, drawings prints and oils inspired by Maltese landscapes by Jesmond Vassallo at the German-Maltese Circle, Messina Palace, 141, St Christopher's Street, Valletta. Opening hours: 08:30-12:30 and 16:00-19:30 (Monday to Friday); 08:30-12:30 (Saturday). COMICS CONVENTION OCTOBER 31, NOVEMBER 2 Malta Comics and Pop Culture Expo Comic book and pop culture convention taking place at the Malta Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta. During the Expo, visitors will be able to attend panels or even meet up with known TV and film personalities. The guest line-up includes Dirk Benedict ('Faceman' from The A-Team), Robert Picardo (The Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager) and Sylvester McCoy (the 7th Dr Who and Radagast the Brown from The Hobbit). Maltese-British actor Joseph Gatt will also be joining the fray. FESTIVAL OCTOBER 10–12 Birgufest Annual event celebrating Birgu, by night. Historic re-enactments, extended and cheaper museum entrances, and the opening up to the public of other venues of interest including churches, highlight the immense historic value of this city. In addition, food stalls offering both Maltese and other food, various musical concerts – ranging from classical to modern, and various exhibitions, make this event truly an outing with something to suit all tastes and ages.
