Events 26 maltatoday, Sunday, 8 March 2015 Sparking change can be big or small but everyone starts from some- where. It can be volunteering as a tutor or mentoring a young person; organizing a local food collection or developing an app or a game to ad- dress a community issue; speaking out for a cause or even starting an organization to support a favourite cause. No idea is too big or too small but whatever it is, MICROSOFT wants to hear it! YouthSpark's Challenge for Change is back for a third year, and this time it's bigger! Microsoft is again this year hosting this global contest asking youths olds how they can spark positive change in their communities, and how Microsoft's tools and resources could help them do so and more. The contest is open to individu- als during the contest submission period of February 25 – March 25, 2015 would be aged 13 to 25 years. Microsoft Student Partners, Youth- Spark Advocates or Microsoft in Education Student Ambassadors who meet the eligibility criteria set forth in the official rules are eligible to enter the contest. However, Indi- viduals do not need to be students as long as they meet the age require- ment and other entry requirements for the contest, which can be found on the YouthSpark Hub. To enter visit http://www.micro- sof t .com/ Yout h Spa rk C ha l lenge. Participants will need to answer the following questions and submit a current photo. 1. What cause do you care about most? Why? 2. How do you support (or would you like to support) this cause? 3. How could Microsoft technology help you do more to support this cause? Give examples! 4. If you won the prize pack- age, how would you use it to do more good? Individuals aged 13 to 25 who meet the criteria in the official rules can enter by completing the entry form online before March 25th at 12:00 PM EST (16:00 GMT). There are two separate age catego- ries in the contest: One age group is for 13-17 year-olds, and the other is for 18-25 year-olds. Entries may only be accepted in English. If English is not the en- trant's native language and they want to write their entry in another language first, they can use Bing Translator to help them translate the entry to English before entering the contest. Microsoft says, "We expect the fi- nalists and grand prize winners to be a mix of students who are creat- ing positive change in small but im- portant ways, as well as those who are epic change-makers working across their school, community, re- gion, or the globe. Their ideas may be brand new and untested, or they may be something they've been do- ing for years." 30 finalists will win a Surface Pro 3 with Office 365, and ten grand prizewinners will win a life-chang- ing two-week leadership develop- ment trip to Nicaragua, $2500 to help them turn their ideas into a re- ality, a Windows Phone, and the op- portunity to be a Microsoft Youth- Spark Advocate! Last December particularly, the new Renegade was rewarded twice, by being awarded the pres- tigious 5 star Euro NCAP rating and recognised as the best-selling vehicle in its segment in Italy. The number of Jeep registra- tions in 2014 was unprecedented, increasing by more than 42% in EMEA and by 70% in Europe (EU-28 + EFTA), with record re- sults in many of the main coun- tries, notably France with a surge of 110%, followed by Italy with 95%, Belgium with 87% and the UK, which was up by 75%, and finally Germany, which recorded increases of 51%. Looking at the product, Jeep's success was driven by the per- formance of the flagship Grand Cherokee, which remained in the top positions in terms of sales throughout 2014 both in Europe as a whole, where it climbed by 3 positions compared to 2013, and in some of the main European countries, including Germany. In Italy, the Grand Cherokee oc- cupied the top position in its segment for 5 months out of 12, including December, ending the year in second place overall. In addition, the Grand Cherokee was the second highest selling vehicle in its segment in Switzer- land and Poland. With the new Cherokee, JEEP recorded its highest sales since 2008, doubling its sales in this segment and exceeding monthly registrations of the previous gen- eration on an annual basis. The new Cherokee received multi- ple awards: "Best Small SUV" awarded by the Car Of The Year Awards 2014 in the Middle East, and the recognition as the "SUV of the Year" by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers. Sales of the new Renegade – the latest addition to the Jeep family, which marks the brand's entrance in the compact SUV segment – started at the end of September in Italy and in October in the other main European countries. The Jeep Renegade immediately en- tered the list of the top ten best selling cars in Italy in its category and reached the top position in its segment in December. The new Jeep Renegade was also awarded the prestigious five-star Euro NCAP, with a total score of 80/100, achieved mainly as a result of the 87% score for adult protection and 85% for child protection, and the positive re- sults in all of the main tests. This prestigious recognition was also obtained due to the innovative "Small Wide 4x4 architecture" and to the most advanced active safety technologies, such as the "Front Collision Warning Plus" system, available for the first time in its segment. 2014 was also a record year not only in terms of sales but also in exponential growth of fans on the brand's social media sites: all Jeep official Facebook EMEA channels have reached a total of more than two million fans, with extraordi- nary year-over-year growth peaks in some countries. In Italy, for ex- ample, the number of registered followers has increased by 600%. Microsoft launches the YouthSpark Challenge for Change
