In commemoration of this occasion, SmartCity Malta in collaboration with Inspire will be hosting a Women's Day at La- guna Walk, its vibrant hub in the south of Malta, on 15 March be- tween 10:00hrs-18:00hrs. Following a variety of successful events held at Laguna Walk, once again, the venue will be opening its doors to the public for every- one to enjoy the exciting activities and vibrant atmosphere. Women's Day at Laguna Walk will include a discussion by Mal- ta's female MEPs, exciting activi- ties organised by Inspire Malta, food stalls and children's enter- tainment. Moreover, a hairstyling marathon will be held during the event, in an attempt to set a new Malta Record. Other highlights in- clude flower arranging, cake deco- ration and nail stalls, among many others. Speaking about Women's day at Laguna Walk, Anthony P. Tabone, CEO of SmartCity Malta said, "We are delighted to be collaborating with a number of established en- tities to host this event. Besides continuing to develop the project, SmartCity Malta has also been endeavouring to integrate itself within the Maltese community and uphold its corporate social responsibility values. Such events are a great outreach opportunity to individuals in the Maltese commu- nity and we are glad to say that we have other events in the pipeline for the whole family to enjoy." Antonello Gauci, Inspire's CEO said, "Women's day is a special day for us at Inspire. In our line of work, we meet many mothers who do so much for their children and sacrifice everything to see them achieve their best potential. Also, because the caring professions at- tract a lot of women, the majority of our employees are also women, so this event is very close to our hearts. On this day we will cel- ebrate all these women and the dif- ference they make in people's lives, but there will be something for all the family to enjoy." "Inspire believes that everyone has a right to equality and inclu- sion. Our mission is to try to help everyone with a disability achieve this. We do this by providing in- dividuals and their families with educational, therapeutic and lei- sure services. We also advocate for inclusion, educate the general pub- lic, raise awareness among peers, and hold the best knowledge base on disability on the island," Gauci concluded. This week Vodafone is introducing major enhancements to the RED Premium Plan that will not only offer customers much more value for their money within their current bundle but which will also transform it into a truly worry-free plan for both per- sonal and business users alike. From 1st March onwards, Voda- fone has significantly upgraded the Plan's EU roaming monthly alloca- tion, with the current package of 100 minutes of talk time,100 SMSes, 50MB of data and 100 receiving minutes increasing to 500 minutes of talk time, 500 SMS, 500MB and 500 receiving minutes. For an aver- age user, this means that all their roaming costs can be fully covered by their domestic monthly fee with Vodafone Red Premium. With this Vodafone has been the first in Malta to introduce a tariff offering com- pletely worry free experience in- cluding roaming without any extra costs. At the same time, Vodafone will be giving RED Premium customers an additional 1GB of data every month for the same monthly fee they have been paying, increasing the 4GB In- ternet on your mobile currently of- fered within the bundle to 5GB per month. These majorchanges are being im- plemented for both existing and new Red Premium tariff customers – who will be upgraded automatically. As Tamas Banyai, Head of Voda- fone's Consumer Business Unit ex- plained, "At Vodafone we listen to what our customers really need and expect in terms of mobile services so that we can continually tailor our plans to offer them the best. "In terms of our RED Premium Plan it was clear that in this segment people tend to travel abroad more and that their need for using inter- net on their mobile has increased as well. Therefore, we have come up with the idea of the first truly wor- ry-free package in Malta including roaming, topped with an increased data allowance." PKF has authored the 2015 Wiley publication titled "Interpretation and Application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)", which went to print in Jan- uary 2015. Till now, the IFRS book showed to be a runaway success with the first print run being com- pletely sold out. PKF/Wiley IFRS 2015 is a com- prehensive guide to the latest Inter- national Financial Reporting Stand- ards developed by the International Accounting Standards Board. Writ- ten by experts in global accounting standards at PKF International, this guide provides detailed information on the latest changes to IFRS, with comprehensive coverage of IFRIC interpretations. Delivered with clear, concise explanations deline- ated by topic for easy navigation, designed for both quick reference and in-depth study, with practical advice for implementing IFRS in real-life scenarios." The aim of IFRS is to provide a single set of high quality, global accounting standards that require transparent and comparable infor- mation in general purpose financial statements. IFRS are considered a "principle-based" set of standards in that they establish broad princi- ples as well as dictate specific treat- ments. The most important benefits of IFRS are: improved comparability of reported financial information by entities; easier access to foreign capital funding and cross-border stock exchange listings; more effec- tive management of enterprises and efficient processes since IFRS re- porting is performance based; more transparent financial information to all stakeholders, optimisation of tax planning and much more. The MaltMUN Society is an inde- pendent, internationally-minded organization committed to securing close ties among the most diverse of its members, investing in their per- sonal development and nurturing leadership skills, whilst embrac- ing the spirit of the United Nations throughout. To mark the second anniversary of its creation, the MaltMUN Society sent a delegation of fourteen stu- dents hailing from highly diverse courses to participate in the 16th edition of the London International Model United Nations held at Impe- rial College. Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations that aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda. Members of the Maltese del- egation represented countries as diverse as France, New Zealand, Somalia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Sri Lanka. This year a number of delegates were also selected to participate in some of the most highly competi- tive and prestigious simulations of LIMUN: with Saman Bugeja and Claire Caruana assuming the roles of Counsel and Judge respecitvely in the International Court of Justice, Charlene Gauci representing New Zealand in the Security Council and Hillary Briffa participating in the Crisis Committee. During the Closing Ceremony awards are given to delegates that epitomise the spirit of LIMUN. Award winners succeed in commu- nicating their objectives, cooperat- ing with other delegates, seeking a consensus, and representing the policy of their country accurately, yet not in detriment of the commit- tee. In this year's edition of LIMUN, the Maltese delegates succeeded in winning five awards, these being the award for Best Position Paper won by Claire Caruana participating in the ICJ, two Honourable Mentions going to Bernice Saliba participat- ing in UNESCO and Sephora Gauci in UNICEF, and the coveted, pres- tigious award of Distinguished Del- egate won by MaltMUN's very own Secretary General, Clara Chetcuti in UNRWA and International Officer, Hillary Briffa in the Crisis Com- mittee – a new record for the Malta Model United Nations Society. The MaltMUN Society is highly satisfied with the results achieved at this year's edition of LIMUN – which demonstrate the Society's dedication to maintain a high level of debate, leadership skills, and pos- tive portrayal of the Maltese people internationally.
