On the occasion of Europe Day, 45 students following the Inter- national Baccalaureate at St Ed- ward 's College and 30 French stu- dents who are in first year sixth form of the European section from the Lycée Le Rebours in Par- is met together for a workshop in Birgu. This group composed of 12 nationalities met to discuss social responsibilit y as it is a main topic of concern for Europe. This collaboration project was planned months in advance for the French part by Marie Jeanne Spiteri, the Chargée de Mission à l 'International of Lycée Le Re- bours, is based in the centre of Paris, and locally by Dominique Inglott, Head of St Edward 's Sixth form. Both schools promote simi- lar values and felt that this op- portunit y widened their perspec- tives. For the workshop, the students were divided into four groups and they had to discuss their point of view relative to topics including the natural environment, povert y, immigration and the future gen- erations. Once the groups came to their conclusions, some rapporteurs for each topic made a presentation to the plenar y and brought out the main points that were mentioned. The students showed passion in getting their message across to the others and there was a com- mon accord on the outcome. The time spent together by these youths in Malta allowed them not only to get to know each other both on a personal and pro- fessional level, but also to share about their respective cultures, understanding their different re- alities and at the same time being together in unit y as Europeans.
