Events 47 maltatoday, SUNDAY, 12 JULY 2015 Ta' Xbiex local council to host 'Connecting Through Culture' event Connecting Though Culture is an- other activity organised by the Ta' Xbiex Local Council led by mayor Max Zammit. The activity will be taken into international dimension through an event based on intercultural dialogue. Ta' Xbiex is by many considered as the embassy capital of Malta, because it is undoubtedly the locality that hosts the largest number of foreign embassies and embassy residencies in the Maltese Islands. For this particular cause the Ta' Xbiex local council for the first time ever involved all the embas- sies in Ta' Xbiex in order to or- ganise this event on two separate evenings, and is going to be held on the 18th and 19th of July in the Yacht Marina car park, with the full participation of the respective embassies, from 8pm onwards. This activity is supported and co- financed by the Parliamentary Sec- retariat for Local Government and Valletta 2018 Foundation. For this event each embassy will have either a stand of food and drink, or will be delivering an ar- tistic performance on stage. Food and drink will be served to those present, with the main aim being to give a taste of different food and delicacies from around the globe. Highlighting the evening will be a variety show with performances from local and international art- ists, which will be coming to Malta exclusively for this event. The par- ticipating embassies will be Italy, United Kingdom, Australia, Tur- key, Egypt, Ireland, Greece, Aus- tria, Netherlands and Spain. The event is expected to attract a number of foreigners to Ta' Xbiex and Msida, particularly as it is a few metres away from the Msida feast of St Joseph, with the usual pyro- technic displays and band marches that this feast is famous for. The Ta' Xbiex local council would like to take this opportunity to thank the Msida local council and the district police for supporting this event. maltatoday, SUNDAY, 12 JULY 2015 Frank Salt Real Estate sponsors international classic ballet performance in Mdina This year Malta's summer cultural scene will also include a spectacu- lar ballet performance being organ- ized under the stars in Mdina, an event which Frank Salt Real Estate are proud to be sponsoring. On Friday 24 July, at 8pm, at Archbishop Square in Mdina, Malta Art Events, in collaboration with the Mdina Local council and Frank Salt Real Estate, is present- ing a ballet spectacular featuring Prokofiev's famous ballet Romeo and Juliet. Featuring star members of the Bavarian State Ballet of Mu- nich and the National Theatre of Prague, this event is a must for all ballet lovers. Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) com- posed what became his most fa- mous ballet in 1936. He revised it in 1940 and it is this version, which is commonly performed. It is one of the greatest ballets of the 20th cen- tury based as it is on an immortal work popularised by Shakespeare's tragedy of the same name. Sponsorship of this prestigious event is another initiative by Frank Salt Real Estate to support the local cultural and heritage scene, follow- ing the sponsorship of Tonio Mal- lia's 'Earth' Art Exhibition in Gozo, and the ongoing Valletta Heritage seminars. "Frank Salt Real Estate is commit- ted to supporting the proliferation of culture and the arts and we are therefore very pleased to be part- ners of Malta Art Events and the Mdina Local Council," stated Man- aging Director Joseph Lupi. "Such initiatives encourage crea- tivity amongst individuals and groups, and help them showcase their work to a wider public audi- ence. They also provide a more var- ied entertainment scene for Mal- tese and the local expat community to enjoy."
