TRIATHLON FOOTBALL Graham Borg to take part in the Triathlon Olimpico Mazara del Vallo BIRKIRKARA St. Joseph Sports Club and national team triath- lete Graham Borg will be taking part in his eleventh international race this year when he will be tackling the standard distance triathlon race in Mazara del Val- lo in Sicily. The race will cover a distance of 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and a 10km run. The race will be draft legal, which means that racers ride very closely behind another in a pack giving them aero dy- namic advantage, enabling them to down on wind resistance and expend less energy. The Triathlon Olimpico Maz- ara del Vallo will be Borg's elev- enth race abroad, of which Borg made it to eight podiums. This race is a popular race where all top regional triathletes will be taking part. Borg has just returned from a very successful showing in the 5150 Standard Distance Tria- thlon in Budapest, where he se- cured a second place podium in his hotly contested age group. Borg's participation in the Tria- thlon Olimpico Mazara del Vallo is possible through the support of Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club, Garmin Malta, MZ invest- ments, Go&Fun, Powerbar, fra- grances.com and On. Birkirkara St. Joseph and Na- tional Team Triathlete Keith Galea and National Triathlon Coach Dermot Galea will also be on the starting line of the Tria- thlon Olimpico Mazara del Vallo which will take place today. Birkirkara St. Joseph Triathlete Graham Borg Real Madrid to donate one million euros to aid refugees REAL Madrid are to do- nate one million euros (£787,000) to aid refugees taken in by Spain. Real have followed in the footsteps of clubs such as Bayern Munich and Celt- ic, who this week pledged to provide help to people affected by the refugee crisis. A statement on the club's website read: "Faithful to its commitment to char- ity, the club has taken this decision with the aim of supporting men, women and children who have been forced to leave their homes in order to f lee from war and death. "The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, spoke (on Fri- day) by phone with the president of the Government, Mariano Ra- joy. The pair talked about this contribution and other measures that the club will put in place in order to collaborate with the care of refugees that arrive in Spain." Football's support for the refu- gee crisis shows no sign of abat- ing after Porto and Real Madrid became the latest clubs to pledge help. The Portuguese giants urged their fellow Champions League competitors to back their initia- tive and donate one euro per tick- et sold for the first two rounds of the tournament – allowing each club to gather gate receipts at one match.
