maltatoday, SUNDAY, 27 DECEMBER 2015 28 This Week 28 EXHIBITIONS UNTIL JANUARY 7 Mdina Biennale – 'Christianity, Spirituality and the Other' The Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale will establish a spiritual space celebrating creativity. The theme for 2015 is 'Christianity, Spirituality and the Other', 'The Other' standing for faith and non-faith, belief and non- belief, theist and atheist, agnostic and polytheist. The Mdina Biennale traces its roots back to the previous Christian and Sacred Art Biennale of the 1990s, and the forthcoming 2015 event will radically widen its creative spectrum. UNTIL JANUARY 10 Watches Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in collaboration with Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti is continuing with its series of temporary exhibitions with an exhibition dedicated to antique watches. Over 50 watches specially loaned from private and museum collections, highlight the technological and artistic qualities of antique watches. This exhibition is guest-curated by David Thompson, who occupied the role of senior curator of Horology at the British Museum until his recent retirement. The exhibition considers their variations and functions, and takes an in-depth look at particularly important watches belonging to notable personalities. CHRISTMAS EVENTS UNTIL JANUARY 3 Bethlehem f'Għajnsielem Bethlehem f'Għajnsielem is an animated nativity village spread on 20,000sqm of land at Għajnsielem, Gozo. Bethlehem f'Għajnsielem will also include re-enactments of the 'trip' from Nazareth to Bethlehem of Joseph and Mary as well as the Adoration of the Magi on the Epiphany (first Sunday after New Year's day) when the three Wise Men will depart on horseback from Malta to Cirkewwa terminal where they will board a ferry in mid-afternoon before making the triumphal entrance to the nativity village. UNTIL JANUARY 4 Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood Join Robin Hood and his Merry Men on their adventures in the Enchanted Forest, battling evil, falling in love and saving the damsels in distress, in FM Theatre Productions' take on the Christmas panto at the Manoel Theatre. WHAT'S ON WHAT'S ON TODAY In Guardia Parade Historical re-enactment at St Elmo Place, Vallet- ta at 11:00. During the re-enactment, of the fort's garrison - some 55 re-enactors in all - are kitted- out in their uniforms to perform their military drill to demonstrate to the Grand Bailiff its state of readiness. E.M.M. presents Electric Café – A Concert For Charity Malta's electronic artists will unite for the very first time to pay a tribute to the works of world- famous electronic music pioneers, in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. Several artists will be performing their arrangements on vintage key- boards, modular, software and also wind synthe- sizers and will be assisted by reactive lighting and projections. All proceeds of this concert will be in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund (MCCF) and will be held at the Spazju Kreattiv – St James Cavalier Theatre starting at 19:00. Donations to MCCF will be accepted at the door. Dominic Galea concert Piano concert by Dominic Galea at Corinthia Hotel, St George's Bay, St Julian's at 16:00. After- noon tea will also be served. The Christmas Fun Fair 2015 The Christmas Fun Fair is back again for the third consecutive year at the Xara Lodge, Rabat. The event will open its doors at 10:30 until 17:00. Tickets are at €5 and €10. Thomas Smith Christmas Charity Swim Now in its 17th edition, the swim this year will be held off the pier in front of the Plough and Anchor Pub, Sliema, in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. Registration starts at 09:30, with President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca launching the swim at 10:30. Cribs Exhibition The St Joseph the Worker Exhibitions Society of Birkirkara will be organizing for the 13th consecu- tive year, the Annual Exhibition of Cribs. In this ex- hibition one can find numerous cribs of every size and shape, as well as Baby Jesus statuettes, paint- ings and other items related to Christmas. Most of the items are handmade exhibits produced by the exhibitors themselves. Some of the exhibits will be shown publicly for the first time. The exhibition will be held at the Parish Centre of St Joseph the Worker, no 71, Bwieraq Street, Birkirkara. Opening hours: 09:00 to 12:00 and 16:00 to 20:00.
