The Blues managed to take the lead after only 14 minutes thanks to Godwin Mensha who beat vet- eran goalkeeper Mario Muscat with a shot from the right. But Mosta's lead did not last long, with Pembroke levelling matters from the penalty spot 10 minutes later. The promoted side was awarded a penalty after a Blues defender handled the ball inside the area and American striker Gustavo Vil- lalobos made no mistake from 11 metres. On 28 minutes, Pembroke took the lead with a cute lob by Kyle O'Brien from outside the box. Pembroke gained a two-goal lead on the 37th minute with a power- ful shot by Argentinian midfielder Ariel Laudisi. As the game seemed to be head- ing towards a surprise Pembroke victory, Mosta's Jonas Rodriguez Ekani's volley beat substitute goal- keeper Matthew Farrugia. James Brincat almost notched the equaliser one minute from time when he hit the upright with a shot from outside the box. However a few seconds later, Mosta were awarded a penalty with Mensha scoring his second goal, despite Farrugia's initial save. The result will see Pembroke start the third round on 13 points, two behind Mosta.
