MARCH 16, 17 AND 20 Orphee et Eurydice Production of the famous opera at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta at 20:00. Composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck based on the myth of Orpheus and set to a libretto by Ranieri de' Calzabigi it features leading local soloists and chorus with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Philip Walsh. MARCH 18 BILA EP launch Local indie band BILA will be launching their debut EP in Malta after launching it in Venice last year. The launch gig will take place at The Funky Monkey Club, Manoel Island at 21:00. They will be supported by Sempliciment tat- Triq, Beesqueeze and Kingdoms Of Dusk. A comic related to the band by artist Samwel Sultana will also be released on the night. Entrance is at €5, €7 with CD/ tape. THEATRE MARCH 5-10; 12-15 The Two Gentlemen of Verona WhatsTheirNames Theatre production of William Shakespere's romantic comedy at The Pub, Valletta at 20:00. Directed by Philip Leone- Ganado. Cast includes: Joe Azzopardi, Nathan Brimmer, Bettina Paris, Giulia Xuereb and Joseph Zammit. Tickets are at €15. Performances are limited to 20 seats per night. Alfred Buttigieg's original play will be performed at Spazju Kreattiv (St James Cavalier) on March 4, 5, 6 and 11, 12, 13 at 20:00. Tickets are at €15. Bookings: www.kreattivita.org, 2122 3200. The play is certified 18+ and is being supported by the Malta Arts Fund. EXHIBITIONS MARCH 5 Speculators in Shush Presentation and performance by artist Claire Tolan at Blitz, St Lucy Street, Valletta at 19:00. Tolan was one of the artists in residence at the venue, and will present and perform works created during her month-long stay in Malta. At the centre of the evening will be a public performance of a new table-top role-playing game (RPG), Speculators in Shush. Speculators in Shush extends the creation myth of Tolan's company of soothing, Shush Systems, deploying it in a Dungeons and Dragons-esque game-as- interactive-performance. MARCH 9 Meet the Artist: Kerstin Arnemann Artist talk and meet-up at Sistina Wine & Co, Gzira at 18:00. Art and photography discussion with photographer Kerstin Arnemann will take place. UNTIL MARCH 13 Gabriel Buttigieg: Paintings Exhibition of paintings by Gabriel Buttigieg at Heritage Malta, Valletta. UNTIL MARCH 13 Inhobbok (I Love You) Collective exhibition at Spazju Kreattiv (St James Cavalier), Valletta. Featuring four emerging creatives, namely Luke Azzopardi (Malta), Umberto Buttigieg (Malta), Demetra Kallitsi (Cyprus) and Maria Theuma (Malta). UNTIL MARCH 30 The Invisible, Visible Collective exhibition of paintings by Sara Pace and Xaxa Calleja at Fortress Builders, St Mark Street, Valletta at 19:30. Directed by Marcelle Teuma and featuring both professional and non-professional actors. Cast includes: Ali Konaté, Sharon Bezzina, Marta Lombardi and Magdalena Von Kuilenburg. NATURE WALK MARCH 13 Walk for Nature Fundraising Trek Walk organised every year to encourage children to experience nature and wildlife first-hand, taking place around Mdina. Meeting place is at 08:45 in front of the Roman Villa in Mdina. Organised by Birdlife Malta. Participation is free, though donations to Birdlife are appreciated. Transport back will be provided against €1 per person.
