maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 6 APRIL 2016 20 Sport SPORTTODAY FOOTBALL Guidolin open to Italy post Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin admits he would be happy to take over from Antonio Conte as coach of Italy FORMER Juventus manag- er Conte said on Monday he would be quitting the national job to become Chelsea boss after this summer's European Championships. Guidolin has helped steer Swansea 10 points clear of the relegation zone since replac- ing Garry Monk at the Liberty Stadium in January on a short- term contract. Amid speculation of former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodg- ers returning to the club at the end of the season, the Italian says he would like to remain at the Premier League club but is refusing to rule out a return home. "From a personal standpoint I would be happy to take over the Italian national team," Guido- lin told Gazetta dello Sport. "My future at Swansea has yet to be decided. I have a four- month contract here in Wales and I would like to stay, and the results suggest that could hap- pen. "I've heard some rumours here in Wales but my future has not been decided. We'll see how we end the season and what happens in the future." Guidloin will hope his side can capitalise on their momen- tum this weekend when they play Chelsea after impressively coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 against Stoke City on Sat- urday. Francesco Guidolin: Unsure of future at the Liberty Stadium Cafu tells Neymar to stay at Barca 24-YEAR-OLD Neymar's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, on Monday linked the Barca striker, whose contract in Spain expires in 2018, with a move to French gi- ants Paris St Germain when he completes his deal. Ribeiro confirmed Neymar al- so has a release clause in his con- tract of 193 million euros (£154 million) and told L'Equipe: "He feels good in Barcelona ... but the prospect of living in a city like Paris and to play for a club like PSG - that's also a dream for every player." But Cafu told laureus.com on Tuesday: "I hope he can continue at Barcelona. Barcelona is a team that supports him, it's a team that provides him with structure to help him continue to shine." Neymar is being linked with a move to PSG Chiellini suffers fresh injury blow Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini is back on the treatment table after making a brief return from injury THE 31-year-old missed the whole of March, in- cluding a Champions League game at Bayern Munich, due to calf trou- ble, but was fit enough to start for Juve in Satur- day's 1-0 Serie A victory over Empoli. He lasted only 53 min- utes before being with- drawn for Juan Cuadrado, though, and subsequent tests have revealed a thigh injury that will rule him out of action for "around 20 days". A statement published on juventus.com on Mon- day afternoon said Chiel- lini had damaged the adductor muscle in his right leg. Despite enduring a stop-start season Chiel- lini has made over 20 league appearances for the reigning cham- pions, who are six points clear of Napoli with seven games remaining. He can expect to miss games against AC Milan, Paler- mo and Lazio, with a trip to Fiorentina on April 24 likely coming too soon for the It- aly international.
