Organised by the J70 Association Malta in partnership with International Yacht Paints, the hotly contested two-day event will guarantee fast-paced one design yacht racing for sailors and spectators alike. It will be the 2nd Cup to take place this year, and as it stands, team Calypso from Malta Young Sailors Club currently hold the lead on the scoreboard, with Royal Malta Yacht Club team XP-Act hot on their heels in second place. A third and final Cup on the 7th and 8th of May will conclude the Malta Sailing League, and the top two local clubs will qualify to take part in the international Sailing Champions League. Com- petition is fierce since the winning club will head to the SCL final in Porto Cervo this September, with the runner up competing in the SCL quali- fiers in St. Petersburg in August. Participation in these races will be possible thanks to the gener- ous support of Mapfre Middlesea and Yacht- ing Malta who will be assisting both qualifying teams by covering their entry fees and flights. Racing will take place inside Marsamxett har- bour between Saturday 1400 to 1700 and Sunday 1000 to 1300, all spectators are welcome to come and catch the action. Follow the J70 Association Malta on Facebook for more information and updates all this week.
