43 Events maltatoday, SUNDAY, 7 AUGUST 2016 GO eSports Festival attracts 200 competitors 200 competitors took part in the GO eSports Festival last week- end, organised by gamers.com.mt at the Mediterranean Conference Centre. The gaming festival featured three games; Overwatch, League of Legends on PC and FIFA 16 on PS4. As the main sponsors of gamers.com.mt, GO provided the fibre internet network for this event, including upload speeds of 100MB. The competition saw partici- pants playing in group stages on Friday and Saturday with semi finals and finals taking place on Sunday. Gamers.com.mt was estab- lished in 2012 to meet an unmet demand from Maltese gamers for competitive tournaments. The GO eSports Festival was the organisation's tenth event and featured improved high-end equipment and a specially-con- structed stage for the final phases of the tournament, further im- proving the viewing experience of the public. Kurt Camilleri, GO's chief com- mercial officer, said: "eSports is a fast growing global activity which brings together millions of people from around the world. The GO Malta eSports Festival highlight- ed both the increasing levels of interest in eSports in Malta, and the high standard of competitors. "With GO's technical support, particularly that of fibre internet, as well as additional logistical, marketing and financial backing, both the standard of events and the ability of Maltese gamers to compete on the global stage have taken another big step forward. Just as GO has taken the deci- sion to support eSports, we will continue to do the same with all those who wish to make the most of the new opportunities which technology is opening up for us all." Gozitan twins win a year's free travel with Malta Public Transport TO celebrate the first anniver- sary since the introduction of the tallinja card, Malta Public Transport awarded one year free travel to the person with the most trips in each category of the tallinja card: Adult, Child, Stu- dent, Concession and Gozo. In Gozo, this prize was award- ed to twins who topped their cat- egory with over 1,500 trips each made in a year. Patrick and Joseph Vella, 46 from Għarb, go on six to eight bus trips each day. In a meet- ing with Godfrey Attard, Malta Public Transport's Gozo Depot Manager, the men agreed that the bus service was very efficient and practical. According to their day-to-day experiences, they said that they were seeing continuous improvements in the service. "It is my pleas- ure to reward such loyal custom- ers," said Attard. "When we noticed that the two peo- ple with the most trips in Gozo were twins, we decided to extend our gift to both of them so that they can con- tinue to travel together." The twins lived in Australia from the age of seven to their late twenties, when they returned to Gozo due to the allure of the lo- cal climate and their love of the Gozitan culture. They both expressed strong views about public transport. Patrick raised concerns about the way some passengers treat bus drivers, stating that drivers are put under a lot of stress. Jo- seph also suggested that people get rid of cars and use public transport. Delicata takes its Classic Wine Festival to Gozo this month For the 14th year, Delicata will be holding its Classic Wine Festival at the scenic garden Ġnien il-Kunsill, in Nadur, Gozo, on 19, 20 and 21 Au- gust 2016 from 7pm till midnight. The Festival is a celebration of wines, food and live entertainment. There will be over 20 Delica- ta D.O.K. and I.G.T. qual- ity wines from Malta and Gozo. These include Go- zo's boutique range of wines, Victoria Heights, Delicata's flagship wines Gran Cavalier and Grand Vin de Hauteville, and other labels such as Medina, Maltese Falcon, Pjazza Regina, Friz- zante, Classic Collection and Dol- cino. All these will be available to taste as often as one likes. Strictly no wine will be served to anyone under 17 and patrons are reminded to en- joy responsibly. The way the festival works is easy. Entrance is free. To sample the wines, visitors can purchase a wrist- band for the night and a souvenir glass for €14. Cooking stalls will serve delicious bar- becue food, suckling pig, traditional Gozi- tan ftajjar (Gozitan flat loaf), fresh ba- guettes, French crêpes and favourite Chinese dishes. Soft drinks and water will also be on sale. Apart from great wines and food, the festival will be hosting every night a spectacle of live entertain- ment by many leading singers and bands. On Friday's opening night, enter- tainment will be provided by Ron- ald Briffa, MAE, Elaine Haber, Gozo Boy, Pierre Zammit and Straight Ahead, while on Saturday night, Pierre Cordina, Novel Band, Re- becca Bonello, Isaiah Muscat, Kelly Cassar and Upper Lip will be enter- taining the crowds. Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Nadur, Gozo Absolut continues to stir things up with new limited edition THIS summer, Absolut wants to stir things up with the launch of Absolut Mix, the latest of the brand's acclaimed series of limited edition bottles. Inspired by the six colours of the LGBT Pride f lag, the design's semi-transparent triangles al- low the bottle's colors to overlap in distinct ways when viewed from different angles. This in- tersecting effect symbolises the connection that is created when various unique individuals mix together. This mid-year release builds on previous Absolut limited edi- tions that were intended to stir- up conversations about diversity and acceptance. The bottle's design hints to- ward both the 2008 & 2015 Ab- solut Colors editions developed in collaboration with the Pride f lag creator Gilbert Baker, as well as the 2009 No Labels edi- tion, a bottle with no labels or logos, which celebrated the po- tential of a world where people were accepted for who they are, rather than by any labels. To support the launch of this limited edition, the brand has developed Absolut Mixr, a web- app that aims to inspire #Abso- lutNights at home, allowing peo- ple and music to mix together in new ways. Created in collaboration with Spotif y, Absolut Mixr allows a group of friends to connect their Spotif y accounts together, au- tomatically mixing-up playlists for any occasion, based on eve- ryone's favorite tunes. To try it, visit Absolut.com/mixr. "Absolut believes that when different minds come together, they are enriched by one an- other. It is this belief that drives the brand 's support for self-ex- pression, and creating a world where people are free to be true to themselves, while connecting with others without judgment or prejudice," says Gaia Gilardini, global communications director for Absolut. The limited edition bottle is now available in selected retail outlets. For a peak at #AbsolutNights events from around the world, visit Absolut.com and follow along on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. Absolut Vodka is im- ported, marketed and distrib- uted by Farsons Beverage Im- ports Company (FBIC) Limited, a member of the Farsons Group.
