maltatoday, SUNDAY, 28 AUGUST 2016 39 This Week V18 event brings elderly and children together Registration for 'Darba Wahda' now open REGISTRATION for participa- tion in Darba Waħda, the Val- letta 2018 project which brings children and the elderly together to participate on a number of a fun activities including storytell- ing, drama, art and games, is now open. Darba Waħda is an intergenera- tional project which brings elder- ly people together with children over a creative platform doing fun activities like drama, story- telling, games and exercises, mu- sic, arts and crafts. Throughout the sessions participants learn from each other, exercise their creativity, develop news skills, experience self-development and have fun in a safe, creative envi- ronment. The project promotes a sense of community and a sense of well-being. Led by applied drama practi- tioner Anna Formosa, and run- ning for the third season Darba Waħda continues to engage par- ticipants from across Malta, cre- ating a sense of community. The free sessions are running from the end of September to December. Registration is open to children aged 9 to 12 years and adults over 60 hailing from the following localities: Marsaskala, Zejtun, Zabbar, Siggiewi, Żebbug, Birkirkara, Zurrieq, Qrendi, Safi, Mqabba and Kirkop. Those inter- ested in participating can register at their respective Local Council. Localities will be grouped to- gether and sessions will be held in spaces located in the area. Ses- sions for Marsaskala, Zejtun and Zabbar will take place at the Zab- bar Local Council Hall; sessions for Siggiewi and Zebbug will be taking place at the Siggiewi Lo- cal Council Hall; sessions for Birkirkara at the Birkirkara Lo- cal Council Hall, while those for Zurrieq, Qrendi, Safi, Mqabba and Kirkop will take place at the Kirkop Local Council Hall. Zabbar sessions will take place on Wednesdays starting Sep- tember 28; Kirkop sessions on Thursdays starting September 29; Siggiewi sessions on Fri- days starting September 30; and Birkirkara sessions on Mondays starting October 3. Those inter- ested in joining should register by contacting their local council. Transport to and from the venue will be provided. For more details visit the Dar- ba Waħda Facebook page, www. valletta2018.org or email us at info@valletta2018.org Local band Airport Impressions embark on UK tour LOCAL rock band Airport Im- pressions will be hitting the in- ternational road on their first ever UK tour which will take place across Scotland. The tour will feature performances around main Scottish cities with performances starting off with the most anticipated event on September 3 at Midstock Festival Edinburgh. This one day festival is growing in popu- larity in the UK and this year will be headlined by top UK selling act Scouting for Girls featuring also other popular acts like Pigeon Detectives and Reverend and the Makers. The band's lead singer Errol Sammut said that the band, "are proud to have been invited at such a great festival in a region mostly known for good bands and music. The whole tour idea was triggered from this festival invite and we didn't look back. It was great to see how UK ven- ues reacted to our sound and they made it easy for our agent to set up an eventful tour in a short time." The tour will be covering pop- ular venues amongst Scottish cities such as Edinburgh, Glas- gow, Dundee, Perth and Aber- deen. These venues have show- cased some of the biggest acts in the UK and during the tour Airport Impressions will also be supported by upcoming UK acts including amongst others November Lights at Stramash Edinburgh, and Rachelle Rhi- enne at The Box Glasgow. As part of the upcoming pro- mo to this tour, the band's lat- est album Mariette has been positively reviewed by vari- ous bloggers and also featured in Scottish music magazines.
