With Big Band Brothers (directed by Daniel Cauchi) and the design commissioned from dandDLab architecture design laboratory, you will hear the fusion of big band with electro swing through Malta's characterful sounds. KUBU is a collaboration project between Daniel Cauchi and dandDlab design laboratory, and performed by the Big Band Brothers. Bookings: http://maltaartsfestival. org/event/kubu/ JULY 7 London Sinfonietta: Under the Skin Directed by Jonathan Glazer and starring Scarlett Johansson, the haunting science fiction thriller Under the Skin will be screened at Fort St Elmo, Valletta at 21:00 with the contemporary classical ensemble, the London Sinfonietta, performing film's score live – the critically acclaimed work of Mica Levi. Over the last few years, 'classical club-nights' have become an increasingly visible feature of the London's nightlife. This has been fuelled by the next generation of classical performers, composers and promoters who are redefining the rules, and breaking out of the constraints of the traditional concert hall. At the forefront of this new movement is Nonclassical. Gabriel Prokofiev (grandson of Sergei Prokofiev) is a composer, producer, DJ, and founder of the Nonclassical record label and club night, who fuses classical music with electronica, garage music, dance, and hip-hop. They will be accompanied by a set from DJ Goa. UNTIL JULY 10 Victoria International Arts Festival For the 20th edition of the Victoria International Arts Festival, a series of 37 concerts, together with exhibitions, master classes, and specialised talks will be presented in Victoria, Gozo. This is a five-week period of uninterrupted musical and cultural activity that is attracting tourists and music-lovers who visit Gozo specifically for the Festival. As for the past nine years, the opening and closing concerts of the Festival will see the participation of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Prof. Joseph Vella, Artistic Director of the Festival.
