Eight-year-old Julie Vella and Al- exander Busuttil Cazac, 11, were proclaimed winner and runner up of the 11th edition front cover painting competition sponsored by Stabilo, represented in Malta by Golden Gate Co Ltd. They were presented their prizes during the event. Julie Vella's painting is on the cover of the 11th edition of the Malta Baby & Kids Directory. The theme of this year's competition was 'Valletta – European Capital of Culture'. Paintings of 11 short- listed artists are also featured in the directory. After the presenta- tions of the prizes, guests were en- tertained to a gymnastic display by Sam Casey, winner of Malta Baby & Kids Talent Show competition. The book is the essential refer- ence for parents and child carers in Malta and Gozo. It is available to buy online at www.maltababyand- kids.com. Expectant mothers are entitled to a free copy of the direc- tory through Mater Dei Maternity Outpatients. This year's new format features sections dealing with pregnan- cy and birth, health, childcare, schools, days out and general ad- vice together with interesting arti- cles for parents and carers. The website features all the di- rectory information together with extra sections featuring parties, activities, sports, shopping and travel. Together they are the top refer- ence for parents and carers looking to find events, services and prod- ucts available to them throughout the year. Benjamin Muscat and Steve Carter have been appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Ricasoli Prop- erties Limited respectively. The company is developing and promoting The Shore- line, the new landmark pro- ject set to be developed at SmartCity Malta. With a long career in fi- nance and management positions at senior executive levels, Muscat's professional experience spans various in- dustry sectors. He has been involved in several initiatives aimed at raising project specific funding via banking facili- ties, third party investment, pri- vate placements, and issue of eq- uity and debt instruments through retail offers subsequently listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. Muscat was the Chief Executive Officer with MIDI plc for twelve years during which time he was a senior member of the development team in charge of the design and roll out of several phases within the mixed use development at Tigne' Point. Today Muscat works as a consultant and sits on a num- ber of boards and committees of local and foreign business entities. Steve Carter, who graduated in management is a businessman with a career in real estate projects in Malta and in Italy. Carter also worked in various industry sectors and sits on boards of companies operating in the fields of IT, invest- ments, aviation, marine, hospitali- ty, education and the health sector. Giuseppa who is originally from Paola was never married and had eight siblings whom she helped her mother look after by helping with house chores and cooking. Her brother Fr Gwakkin com- mented that she was very dedi- cated to the family and spent most of her time at home taking care of everyone around her. In fact in a lifetime, she only visited Valletta once since she chose to spend her life close to home. The event commenced with a Mass that was held in the home's chapel. Guests then proceeded to the reception area where Giusep- pa was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a gift from Natalie Briffa Farruiga, CEO of CareMal- ta while The Greenfields kept the residents entertained. The dining room was nicely set up for a lavish lunch with white linen tablecloths and pink chair bow ties, flowers and balloons. Anthony Agius Decelis, parlia- mentary secretary responsible for active ageing, was the guest of honour on this occasion. Giuseppa enjoyed this event and had a great time stating 'I loved every minute!' The event was catered by Cater- Essence Ltd which forms part of Vassallo Group. CareMalta honours centenerian Giuseppa Mercieca received a bouquet of flowers and a gift by CareMalta CEO Natalie Briffa Farrugia and was also greeted by parliamentary secretary Anthony Agius Decelis Chairman Benjamin Muscat and Managing Director Steve Carter
