maltatoday, SUNDAY, 16 JULY 2017 II Motoring ROLLSROYCE'S latest Black Badge model has been revealed. This time, the Dawn convert- ible has undergone the almost gangsta-level upgrade and has been revealed to the public at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Rolls-Royce Black Badge series is considered to be the posh brand's 'alter ego'. Rollers that are festooned with the Black Badge label are meant to attract a younger audience and have just a little more shove under the long bonnet. So much so that the Dawn Black Badge has 30bhp more than a regular Dawn and looks like something out of a rap music video. Another Black Badge attribute is that the whole car is, well… black. A multi-layer gloss paint finish is accompanied by massive black alloy wheels and a canvas roof in the same colour. Even the usual wood decking used to hide the roof mechanism is replaced by black leather. If you look a little closer, you'll find that the Dawn's huge grille is finished in black chrome, along with the exhaust pipes and trim on the tailgate. The interior apparently echoes 'production techniques for stealth aircraft' and includes 'aircraft-grade aluminium and carbon fibre trim'. The finest black cowhide is complemented by orange inlays and piping on the seats. Despite the V12 engine's 593bhp power output and 619lb ft torque figure, the Dawn's per- formance figures are still rated the same; 0-62mph still takes 4.9 seconds and the top speed is limited to 155mph. For those wealthy enough to even get a look in, Rolls-Royce is taking orders for its Dawn Black Badge models. The rest of us will only be fortunate enough to catch it at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Dark night rises: Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge revealed at Goodwood 2017 All Black Badge models are black and the Dawn model features a multi-layer gloss paint finish accompanied by massive black alloy wheels The interior includes aircraft-grade aluminium and carbon fibre trim with orange inlays and piping on the seats
