41 maltatoday, SUNDAY, 6 AUGUST 2017 Information Technology €700,000 were collected through the pledg- ing system. The donations were eventually collected during the following day by Puttinu volunteers, who made 650 collections. MITA had also provided similar logistic sup- port to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation during L-Istrina. More than 90 MITA volunteers co-ordinated the pledging system during the philantropic event through an electronic system. Moreover, a team was also assigned to co-ordinate the collection of money with volunteers from MCCFF and eCabs and to do the reconciliation process with the auditors. Regular blood donations and blood drives A Blood Donation Drive campaign was also organised during these six months, although several employees participate in ongoing blood donation sessions organised every two months. These drives are intended to increase and spread awareness about the importance of donating blood and to en- courage other organisations to follow MITA's initiative. More than 80 blood donors participated in this initiative that was co-ordinated by the MITA Cares Committee. This initiative was described by MITA's Executive Chairman as a clear example of how an organisation can help society and change a life in the process. The Malta National Blood Transfusion Service Practicing Nurse, Tony Micallef also showed his appreciation for the ongoing support and hoped that other organisations can follow this example. Ongoing donations Apart from the organisation of philantropic events, MITA Cares also assisted members of society who requested its assistance. Such demands varied from requests of second hand laptops and ICT equipment, to financial assistance to help people in need.
