The greens were awarded a penalty on the 85th minute when Mauricio Vella was brought down inside the penalty and the referee pointed towards the spot. However, Fontanella saw his shot from the eleven metres mark being saved by Nicht. Despite losing this opportunity, Floriana scored the winning goal on the 92nd min- ute through another penalty after Leighton Grech was fouled inside the penalty area. Fontanella took charge of the penalty, and this time the Italian forward finished in- side the net.
