maltatoday SUNDAY 1 APRIL 2018 44 Information Technology CONSISTENT with its ongoing business commitments, MITA strives to contribute further to the Maltese community through a number of tangible Corporate Social Re- sponsibility initiatives. MITA Cares is MITA's Corporate Social Re- sponsibility arm aimed specifically to put into practice the MITA's commitment in line with its vision, values and practices. Throughout the past years, MITA Cares has been actively involved in various ini- tiatives to support numerous stakeholders encompassing various NGOs and individu- als who require specific assistance. Apart from these initiatives, MITA Cares also fo- cuses on supporting the wellbeing of its employees. MITA Cares through its strong pool of in- house volunteers and technology use have undertaken several assignments in sup- porting the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation (MCCFF) and Puttinu Cares in their respective fund-raising events. Over the past three years, MITA Cares has been tasked to handle the Pledges Dona- tions Call Centre functions, coordination and dispatches of collections of the recent MCCFF and Puttinu Cares events. These as- signments involve the setting up of Call Centre function cover over 40 call centre agents, data collection through a web based application system and the use of mobile connected tablets to facilitate the collection of the pledges. This setup is manned by MITA Cares vol- unteers and supported by third parties namely GO for the provision of telephony services, iSupport for the web based appli- cation and eCabs for the chauffeur- driven services to collect donations from various localities in Malta and Gozo. Typically, each fund-raising event en- tails around 1000 pledge calls in very limited timeframe and subsequent collec- tions in reasonable response time from the kind-hearted donors. In addition to the logistical support to MCCFF and Puttinu Cares, MITA Cares also actively contribute in other technology re- lated events including: Hands-on computer use training at Cari- tas to assist inmates in the learning pro- gramme; Donations of hardware equipment to MITA puts into play its 'Digital Heart' commitment
