In its macro update for Europe, DBRS reported yesterday that Malta's real GDP growth in the first six months was well above the euro area average of 2.3%. The second and third-best performers were Latvia and Slovenia with growth rates of 4.4% and 4.3% respectively. But Malta was also among the three countries with the lowest unemploy- ment rate at 3.9%. Germany had the lowest unemploy- ment rate at 3.4%, while the Nether- lands registered a rate at par with Malta. DBRS said growth in the euro area had "a weak start" to the year but remained steady. "Growth was driven by house- hold consumption and gross fixed in- vestment. By country, the top perform- ers include Malta, Latvia, and Slovenia, while the underperformers include Ita- ly, Belgium and France," DBRS said. At its September policy meeting, the European Central Bank (ECB) revised downwards its economic growth fore- cast for the eurozone in 2018 as a result of rising external risks. The ECB had already cut its growth forecast to 2.1% from 2.4% in its June meeting. The projection for 2019 was also revised downward to 1.8% from 1.9%. GanaEight Coin Limited co-CEOs invite Prime Minister to G8C launch THE co-CEOs of Ganapati Group company, GanaEight Coin Limited, met Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to personally invite him to their G8C launch and share further information about their progress. Following a successful first meeting in Japan in July, Hayato Terai and Kristina C. Deguara, the two CEOs of the G8C issuing company, sat down with the Prime Minister, this time in Malta, to hand him a personal invitation to their upcoming launch. The G8C Token Launch Party is to be held on 30 October at Palazzo Parisio in Naxxar, and is expected to gain sig- nificant attention in Malta. Terai and Deguara also updated the Prime Minister on the latest develop- ments of their ICO on the run-up to its launch. Muscat reaffirmed his full support for the project, which he recently of- fered to the Company during their talks in Japan. He welcomed G8C to Malta and expressed his excitement that the country was quickly becoming the Blockchain Island.
