maltatoday | SUNDAY • 21 JULY 2019 13 COMMERCIAL 13 SUMMER gets in full swing with the highly anticipated Delicata Classic Wine Festival. It prom- ises to be the grandest event on the wine enthusiast's calendar, organised for the 18th time by Malta's award-winning, super- centenarian Delicata winery. This year's edition will take place at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, from Thurs- day 8 to Sunday 11 August 2019, every evening from 7pm until midnight. In all, there are more than 20 wines to sample. These include the semi-sparkling Frizzantes made from the native old bush vines Girgentina and Ġellewża. There are the DOK Malta Medina and DOK Gozo Victoria Heights boutique wines, a selec- tion of the flagship Gran Cava- lier and Grand Vin de Hauteville ranges, as well as the sweeter lifestyle Dolcino and Falcon wines, the popular lush Casella Moscato and other varietals of the Classic Collection, all three Pjazza Reġina wines and the ready-mixed wine coolers called Spritzers. Entrance is free. To try the wines, there is a fee of €16 in return for a wine purse filled with 24 wine coins and a souve- nir glass which is yours to keep. Handing over the correct change of wine coins at the stalls inside will prompt dedicated wine stewards to pour a standard 150 ml glass of the wine on show in the festival glass. Every evening there is a dou- ble-bill of music by some of Malta's leading bands such as Airport Impressions and The Crowns. Live cooking stalls will be serving a tempting variety of both traditional Maltese and in- ternational dishes to tease a wide range of palates. Wine purses and glasses are sold at the venue until 11 pm, wine is poured up to 11.30 pm and the festival closes at mid- night. Patrons are reminded to enjoy responsibly and never drink and drive. A convenient online prepay- ment facility is operational al- ready at the Delicata website www.delicata.com. It will save you time queuing and lets you collect your wine coins and glass swiftly on the night. This year's festival also aspires to give a little back for a good cause. When prepaying online, a voluntary donation is accepted in aid of the preservation of en- dangered sea turtles by Nature Trust Malta, a beneficiary of the winery's charitable Delicata for Good initiative. Anyone who do- nates is automatically in with a chance to win a double magnum of the winery's signature and award-winning Gran Cavalier Syrah. The Delicata Classic Wine Fes- tival is the showcase for Malta's wines par excellence. The en- chanted atmosphere, the breath- taking views of the world-class venue that is the Grand Harbour and the floodlit three cities will make anyone's visit truly memo- rable. Chief Business Development Officer Kenneth Farrugia and Chief Officer Investment Services Romeo Cutajar attended the official bell ringing event at the Malta Stock Exchange to for- mally commemorate the first day of trading in the presence of MSE Chairman Joseph Portelli and CEO Simon Zammit. "Here at the Malta Stock Exchange, we consider Bank of Val- letta as an esteemed major issuer," Portelli said. "The ringing of the MSE bell has become a rite of passage on the first day of trading and we are glad to add BOV's latest Bond Issue on the Main Market." Farrugia said everyone was pleased to have yet another finan- cial instrument listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. "We are very proud to be able to say that Bank of Valletta has consolidated itself as a solid and rewarding investment over the years, and the prompt take up of the offer confirms that the investing public firmly believes in the strength and success of the BOV Group," he said. Micallef thanked the investors, the advisory team and the Malta Stock Exchange for making this Bond Issue a success. BOV Bond officially listed on Malta Stock Exchange OVER 200 British expatriates and other inter- ested parties attended a very successful confer- ence organised by Frank Salt Real Estate about Malta's role in a post-Brexit Europe. The event, which also saw the participation of Malta's leading professional service firms was addressed by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and British High Commissioner Stuart Gill as keynote speakers, followed by panels discussing different aspects of Brexit and the implications on UK nationals and organisations, already owning property or considering buying or sell- ing property on the islands. A detailed and comprehensive overview of Malta's property market, from Frank Salt Real Estate company director Grahame Salt, brought the event to a close. Gill said that with a new UK prime minister, they would likely wish to re-negotiate the Brex- it deal to secure a greater degree of flexibility from the EU. Muscat, while stressing Malta's support for the UK, confirmed that a renegotiation was unlikely to happen, with the deal negotiated in November 2018 after 19 months of discussions being "the only agreement on the table". Mus- cat went on to give unequivocal reassurances about the future of the 13,000 Britons living in Malta post-Brexit, to the relief of the audience. The event was open for British nationals re- siding or working in Malta and UK owned busi- nesses already operating in Malta or looking to relocate to Malta post-Brexit. Other Malta- based expats with a connection to the UK were also present. "Frank Salt Real Estate has always been the leading Maltese real estate agency for the UK market, thanks to its ongoing marketing ef- forts to promote Malta and Gozo as the ideal destination for British people looking at taking up residency, retiring or purchasing a holiday home on the islands or for British businesses relocating to Malta," company director Gra- hame Salt said. "With the ongoing uncertainties from Brexit, the company felt the need to also organise the seminar to help answer questions from British nationals or businesses in Malta and to provide more certainty and understanding of future op- portunities for a continuing strong connection between Malta and Britain."
