12 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 1 DECEMBER 2019 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Music 13 DECEMBER KorMalta - Christmas Concert KorMalta, Malta's very own national choir, will be produc- ing a choral Christmas concert entitled Nativitas. During the concert, which will be held on the 13th of December at 7.30pm at the St Paul's Pro-Cathedral in Valletta, the female sections of KorMalta and the male sections of the Cappella Gregoriana Ju- bilate Deo Choir will be team- ing up to present a very special festive repertoire. Nativitas will not consist of your typical run- of-the-mill Christmas concert – the female and male ensembles, together with the participation of horns and harp, promise to offer the public a deep atmos- phere made of different but complementary sounds. The concert will consist of a musical itinerary ranging from Gregorian chant to a more con- temporary repertoire. The au- diences can expect a selection ranging from the Ave Maria and Salve Regina to Adeste Fide- les and Veni, Veni, Emmanuel. The concert will be led by Ric- cardo Bianchi, Chorus Master for KorMalta, and Christopher Muscat, Chorus Master for the Cappella Gregoriana Jubilate Deo choir. Festival UNTIL 6 DECEMBER The Malta International Organ Festival The 6th edition of the Malta International Organ Festival will introduce a formidable group of internationally ac- claimed musicians to the local scene through multiple con- certs at various churches across both islands. This prestigious festival will launch on Friday 22nd Novem- ber with a Pomp & Splendour concert held at St Paul's Angli- can Pro-Cathedral and will end on Friday 6th December with Missa Mundi at St John's Co- Cathedral, spanning a fortnight of musical and cultural excel- lence. The Malta International Organ Festival will also debut a first for the island with a sched- uled performance involving the alphorn – an instrument com- monly used by Alpine moun- tain dwellers as a traditional communicative method. In conjunction with the organ, the concert will not only introduce locals to the instrument but will delight audiences through a mystical and unique instru- mental combination. It is a satirical sketch show that somehow manages to walk the line between silly and biting, while, at the same time, constantly being the funniest show on the island. This year's show is Comedy Knights 007: Licence to Laugh. The title of the show reflects the number of years the Comedy Knights have been producing this an- nual sketch show. It promises to be always original, always topi- cal, always on point and per- haps most importantly, always hilarious. The cast features some of Malta's strongest comedy per- formers, as well as characters that have managed to enter lo- cal popular culture. Audience favourites such as the Bormla Babes, The First Lady and the Sliema Girls, are certain to make an appearance, while a vast selection of other sketches inspired by Maltese society and way of life will complete the show. Tickets are available from www.ticketline.com.mt and are on sale now. Such is the demand for tickets, that the entire run of shows is available for sale. UNTIL 20 DECEMBER VITORI For the first time ever, Cirque du Soleil will present an exclu- sive and original live perfor- mance in Malta for the 40th anniversary of the Mediterra- nean Conference Centre in the historic city of Valletta. The high-energy acrobatics of VI- TORI are guaranteed to thrill audiences in the first of a series of annual shows destined for Malta. In the classic game of chess, each piece can be sacrificed to save the King. But VITORI is not your typical chess game, so when a gentle yet reckless King falls head over heels for one of the Rooks on the op- posing team, ready to sacrifice all in the name of love, he cre- ates mayhem in this rigid and highly structured world. Cirque du Soleil will be performing in Malta until 20 December, for more information please visit http://maltashows.com/ cirquedusoleil/#about-vitori Other 29 DECEMBER Thomas Smith Charity Swim The Thomas Smith Annual Charity swim, a much-awaited annual event and now in its 21st year, will once again be held off the pier by Independence Gar- den, Sliema, on the 29th of De- cember, under the patronage of the Office of the President.
