8 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 15 DECEMBER 2019 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Music 18-20 DECEMBER Christmas with Wayne Marshall and The New Choral Singers Join The New Choral Singers in a feast of Christmas music as they present their annual sea- sonal concert entitled "Musical Tidings" on Wednesday 18 De- cember 2019 at St. Paul's Pro- Cathedral, Valletta and Friday 20 December 2019 at the Jesu- its' Church, Merchant Street, Valletta. Under the direction of Mauro Farrugia, the choir will be ac- companied on the organ by world-acclaimed BBC Proms virtuoso organist and conduc- tor, Wayne Marshall, who is currently chief conductor of WDR Funkhausorchester Co- logne and Organist and Asso- ciate artist of the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. The choir will also be joined for the even- ing by Marouska Attard, guest soprano.. A sequence of old and new choral music for Ad- vent and Christmas, highlights will include Adolphe Adam's evergreen 'O Holy Night', Sus- sex carol, and arrangements of 'Silent Night' and 'Jingle bells'. Music will range from 16th- century carols to select pieces of our time. Entrance is free of charge and no reservation is required. However, a retiring collection will be held at the end of both performances. Both concerts start at 7.30pm though it is rec- ommended to arrive early to se- cure a seat. 7 - 21 DECEMBER Cribs Exhibition The Saint Joseph the Worker Exhibitions Society shall be organising its 17th consecutive Cribs Exhibition, at the Saint Jo- seph the Worker Parish Centre, no. 71, Bwieraq Street, Birkirka- ra. More than 70 cribs, of vari- ous sizes and materials, will be on display, together with other items related to the Christmas period, such as statues of Baby Jesus, pictures, semolina paint- ings and decorations. Most of the items are hand-made by the exhibitors themselves. Moreover, this year's exhibi- tion will also feature particular antique items which will be on display for the very first time duringthis exhibition. The Ex- hibition will open as from Sat- urday 7 December, until 27 De- cember, every day from 9am till 12pm and from 4pm till 8pm. Montanaro has not only penned the script for this year's offering – the fantastical Ara- bian Nights spectacular Alad- din – but he also returns to the stage in the show as the larger- than-life panto Dame.
