L-Imqabba – Biss bil-hila First edition of a festival of arts, crafts, food and entertainment across the streets of Mqabba, starting at 09:00. The event will include various activities such as vintage cars exhibitions, games for children, music, dancing, and trains. A special attraction will be the traditional 'Kukkanja' (greasy pole), that will be set up in the middle of the square. More information: www.talgilju.com. The Malta Military Tattoo The 10th edition of the Malta MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE Military Tattoo will take place at the MFCC, Ta' Qali at 18:00. Hermetik Exhibition of various large-scale indoor and outdoor installations at one of Malta's historical landmarks, the 18th century fortress Fort Tigne' in Sliema. Maltese artists Norbert Francis Attard and Raphael Vella, and Belgian architect Tom Van Malderen display various installations specifically made for and relating to the military architecture and its history. Curated by Michael Bock. Opening hours: 10:00 to 18:00. The exhibition will be inaugurated on October 11 at 17:00. Mix Tape – exhibition and artist talk Interactive installation at St James Cavalier, Valletta from 10:00 to 22:00, devised by Lucas Abela and shown in Gigloo by Keg de Souza. Mix Tape provides its visitors with tactile playback of a sculptural mass of audiotape attached to helium balloons. These balloons, with tape tied to each like a ribbon are filled with helium and released into the ceiling, leaving the tape to unspool as their cassette anchors them to the floor. This forest of exposed audio-tape then provides the raw material for an interactive mash up as participants run the magnetic strips across exposed playback heads mounted to playstations. An artist talk by Lucas Abela and Keg de Souza will then take place at 19:30. Tickets are at €25, €20 This year's edition of the Hamrun Chocolate Festival will take place on October 13 OCTOBER 18 – NOVEMBER 10 4 Rooms Photographic exhibition by Ritty Tacsum at the Upper Galleries of St James Cavalier, Valletta. The project is accompanied by a fourpart short story by Loranne Vella – published in an exhibition booklet designed by artist Julian Mallia.
