maltatoday, SUNDAY, 3 AUGUST 2014 THIS WEEK 28 EVENINGS ON CAMPUS AUGUST 3 Il-Properzju tal-Professur The Malta Classics Association's play about a Professor of Latin and his passion for the language will take place in the University Quadrangle at 21:00. AUGUST 4 Le Havre Le Havre, a French film, will be shown in the University Quadrangle at 21:00. The Maltese subtitles were provided by Emanuela Vella a student from the Department of Translation, Terminology and Interpreting Studies, and supervised by Prof. Anthony Aquilina, and supported by KRS Releasing Limited. AUGUST 6, 7 Akustika Dance Anthems Nine musicians will be turning the most popular dance-floor fillers from the nineties and noughties into acoustic hits. On 6 August, the event will take place at the University Quadrangle and on 7 August at the Cottonera Resource Centre, St Edward's Street, Fortini, Vittoriosa at 21:00. AUGUST 8 A Short Punk Story A night of punk rock music with live performances from local punk acts, nosnow/noalps and Clandestines, engaging with punk ethics. Videos of punk's most influential moments and the bands that shaped history will be shown. The live performance will give the audience a feel of what the punk genre is all about. In one night, those who might not have much knowledge of this genre of music will get the chance to listen, learn and be part of a great show and a great story, which is still alive to this day. The event will take place in the University Quadrangle at 21:00. AUGUST 9 Piano Film Music A piano and vocal recital featuring original piano works for movies, by Tricia Dawn Williams on piano, accompanied by singer Eleanor Spiteri. Event will take place in the KSU Common Room at the Msida campus at 21:00. AUGUST 10 18:00 – Legends from the Middle Ages An event for children with Malcolm Galea and Joseph Zammit from More or Less Theatre reading little-known stories from the past and acting them out. Event will take place in the KSU Common Room at the Msida campus 20:00 – The Science of Wine Oenologist Roger Aquilina will take attendees through a journey from the earliest days to modern wine production and research. He will talk about the science and art behind fermenting wine. The event will take place in the University Quadrangle. VISUAL ARTS CONTINUES BY APPOINTMENT Retrospective by Norbert Attard Retrospective exhibition by artist Norbert Attard at Gozo Contemporary, 11, Mongur Street, Gharb, Gozo. Art works spanning 40 years will be on display. These include Attard's early paintings, drawings and lino cuts from the formative years, limited edition prints (including the Walled Cities, Mihrab and Kimono series) and abstract paintings from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and photographic prints and sculptures, from his most recent conceptual phase. UNTIL AUGUST 22 Music, Dance and Landscapes by Jeni Caruana Exhibition of paintings by Jeni Caruana at Palazzo de Piro, Mdina. Featuring paintings done live at various musical events. JULY 26 – AUGUST 22 Paġni - Pass the Parcel Paġni, an exhibition in the main hall at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta, is a result of the project Pass the Parcel, which was organised with Y.O.U.R.S. (Young Offenders Unit Rehabilitation Services) and Female residents at Corradino Correctional Facility. This project started back in October 2013 and is supported by Fondazzjoni Ċentru Għall- Kreattività and Premju tal-President Għall-Kreattività. Entrance is free. JULY 12 – AUGUST 24 Ġgantija 2013 Project - Final Exhibition Ġgantija 2013 Project is an ongoing- multidisciplinary work embracing music, visual art and literature. The project aims to dialogue with Ġgantija, a Unesco World Heritage Site situated on the island of Gozo WHAT'S ON www.expressgroup.com We Deliver!
