Citroen - C1 - 18x5.indd 1 24/04/2015 16:02 DS3 gets new six-speed automatic transmission, for even greater performance and efficacy Since it first appeared on the market in spring 2010, DS 3 has become an icon, the vehicle of choice for more than 330,000 customers worldwide. True to the DS brand strategy of perpetual product evolution, DS3 is now getting a new six-speed and latest generation auto- matic transmission, for an even more comfortable ride and even smoother vehicle response, along with an im- provement of more than 28% in CO2 emissions, which are down by more than 42 g. For DS, the premium brand launched by the PSA group a few months back, sales suc- cess and vehicle appeal go hand in hand with continu- ous improvement. The DS 3, for example, is regularly upgraded to offer new tech- nological innovations and customization features. Fol- lowing on from the LED Vi- sion headlamps that came in September 2014, and the THP 165 S&S engine with six-speed manual gearbox in November 2014, the DS 3 is now getting a six-speed au- tomatic transmission. The EAT6 transmission is coupled with a three- cylinder PureTech110 tur- bocharged engine, which gives high torque from low engine revs. This ideal com- bination accommodates the smoothest or the briskest driving styles, at the driver's wish. Gearshifts are faster and smoother, bringing en- hanced driveability, response and acceleration. And the efficiency figures speak for themselves: combined-cycle fuel consumption is 4.7 litres per 100 km for the hatchback and 4.9 litres for the Cabrio version, for CO2 emissions of 108 g/km (hatchback), down by 42 g/km (28% less than with the VTi 120 auto- matic version) or 112 g/km (Cabrio). The market share of auto- matic-transmission versions in the B2 premium segment had risen by five percentage points in some countries by early 2015, so release of this new DS 3 version looks to be a promising milestone in the DS 3 saga. The EAT6 transmission will be available on DS 3 hatchback and Cabrio ver- sions from June 2015.
