Eat Fresh Fish Fair in Siggiewi on Saturday New Silkroutes Group Limited announces trading under new corporate identity The Board of Directors of New Silkroutes Group Limited is pleased to announce the com- mencement of its trading under the new corporate identity of New Silkroutes Group Limited (NSG) with effect from today. Cai Sui Xin, Chairman of NSG, is pleased to announce a series of significant changes in the compa- ny beginning with the change of name to better ref lect the broader business commitment of the com- pany and the earlier appointment of new and experienced board members. Goh Jin Hian was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 7 July 2015, after having been appointed a member of the Board of Direc- tors effective 7 Jul 2015. Goh currently holds the position of Managing Director in NSG's wholly-owned Energy division, In- ternational Energy Group Pte Ltd (IEG). Since joining IEG, Goh has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts across the compa- ny's energy portfolio of products and services, most notably the company's move to include power generation in its existing oil & gas trading portfolio. "During this time of transfor- mation, there is no better person than Jin (Hian) to lead the com- pany," said Cai Sui Xin, New Silk- routes Group's Chairman of the Board of Directors. "Jin is a prov- en leader with hard-core manage- ment skills, business vision and the ability to bring people togeth- er. His vision on how energy and technology will be used and expe- rienced by the public is significant as the (New Silkroutes) Group en- ters its next chapter of innovation and growth." In addition to Goh, NSG's new board members effective 24 June 2015 consists of Ho Sheng, Lead Independent Director of Cordlife Group Limited and Independent Director of Ying Li International Real Estate Limited; Vivien Chen- Chou, Managing Director of For- tuna Navigation Co. Ltd. and Non- Executive Director of Agritrade Resources Ltd. (HKSE read-code: 1131), and Kelvyn Oo, Partner of Pinsent Masons MPillay LLP and Independent Director of Teho In- ternational Inc. Ltd. With their addition to the board, Chou was appointed a member of the Audit and Nominating Com- mittees, while Ho and Oo now chair the Nominating Committee and the Remuneration Committee respectively; Frank Yu remains as Chairman of the Audit Commit- tee. Goh explains, "The EU-Singa- pore FTA (EUSFTA), the Chinese strategic initiatives, 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, all have significant impact on the changing global landscape. The term "Silk Road" was coined by Ferdinand von Richthofen, an eminent German geographer in 1877 but the academia prefer the term "Silk Routes" because the road included an extensive net- work of routes. New Silkroutes was chosen as we wanted a cor- porate identity to better ref lect our ambitions: trade on the an- cient Silk Road was a significant factor in the development of the civilizations of China, the Indian subcontinent, Persia, Europe and Arabia, opening long-distance po- litical and economic interactions between the civilizations. Though silk was the major produce from China, many other goods were traded along the Silk Routes. Perhaps most important was the exchange of ideas, cultures, phi- losophies, resources and technol- ogies. Our management hopes to embrace this spirit of the glorious past as we align ourselves towards the future." On 18 May 2015, IEG via its newly incorporated wholly-owned subsidiary, New Silkroutes Group (Europe) Limited, entered into a joint venture with Malta Enter- prise Corporation, with the inten- tion of developing the Republic of Malta into a trading hub for energy products between Europe and Asia. In the com- ing weeks, the Qajjenza site will be handed over back to Enemalta bringing to a sat- isfactory conclusion Gasco Energy's obligations origi- nating from its privatization agreement with Enemalta. Gasco Energy CEO Paul Agius Delicata said, "After 54 years of service, 'it-tank- ijiet tal-Qajjenza', as they are commonly known, were of- ficially decommissioned in Sep- tember 2013 following a degas- sing process. The dismantling process included having the gas tanks, pipes and other ancillary equipment cut up in stages and removed completely from site." Following the complete dis- mantle of the site, which was overseen by Trihills Heav y In- dustries Ltd, Enemalta proceed- ed to retrieve underground sam- ples which were then tested by a foreign laboratory for any pos- sible contamination. The results came back clean, confirming that no underground contami- nation had occurred. "The removal of the gas storage tanks at Qajjenza has been wel- comed by many, including the residents themselves. Besides providing peace of mind, their removal will positively enhance the neighbouring area and in- crease the retail value of the surrounding property," added Mr Agius Delicata. Today, Gasco Energy oper- ates a new fully certified gas bottling and storage facility at Bengħisa with an investment of €20 million. Fully respect- ing the EU stringent criteria as established in the Seveso II Directives, the modern Bengħisa storage and bottling plant was inaugurated in No- vember 2012. Earlier, as from 1 February 2009, Liquigas Malta - the other company in the Gasco Consortium - be- came responsible for gas dis- tribution in cylinders, in bulk and also autogas, for the first time in Malta. Through this €20 million in- vestment, Gasco Energy has more than doubled the LPG storage facilities and therefore has secured a continuous, ad- equate supply of liquefied petro- leum gas at all times to cater for present and future requirements of the Maltese market.
