Events 45 maltatoday, Sunday, 2 auguSt 2015 New board elected for Malta Association of Risk Management Ian-Edward Stafrace is the newly elected president of the Malta association of risk Man- agement (MarM), the associa- tion that has been representing the risk management profession in Malta since 2011. The objective of the Malta as- sociation of risk Management is to promote, advance and en- courage the knowledge of, and use of risk management within the private and public sectors in the Maltese Islands through the exchange of experience, knowledge and advice among its individual members, corpo- rate members and professional associations on all matters of a professional, technical and or- ganisational nature. MarM held its annual gen- eral meeting at the University of Malta on 30th June in which the new board was elected for the next two years. This in- cludes outgoing president dr Simon Grima who takes on the new role of education and certification affairs. dominic Fisher is the new vice presi- dent while Sharon Cilia Tortell and andre Farrugia retain the treasurer and secretary roles respectively. Ingrid azzopardi is the public relations officer, Mark Zammit is responsible for membership and sponsorships and dr robert Cachia is events co-ordinator. Ian-Edward Stafrace said MarM will continue to raise the profile of risk management in Malta through events in col- laboration with other profes- sional associations and with increased member engagement and networking opportunities for all those interested to learn more on how to better manage uncertainties, threats and op- portunities. "we want to help risk students and risk managers build their skill-set and prepare them for future risk leadership roles." MarM will continue its ef- forts in the area of risk edu- cation. acknowledgment was given to MarM's past achieve- ments with the University of Malta where risk management is featuring in an increasing number of courses. as mem- ber of FErMa, the Federation of European risk Management associations, MarM has been actively participating in FEr- Ma's project to launch later this year a professional risk manager certification that will be recognised across Europe. "The new board is privileged that during its term, Malta will host for the first time FErMa's biennial risk management sem- inar in October 2016. This will be a unique and exciting op- portunity with hundreds of risk management experts coming from all across Europe." Following the recent presenta- tion on Embedding risk, MarM is following up with a workshop on Thursday 27 august. This is a free event for whoever attend- ed the first event on Embedding risk on the 30 June as well as for MarM members. MarM is also planning a Foreign Ex- change risk Event in October. The funds will be administered by the Moviment Missjunarju Ge- su fil-Proxxmu (Missionary Move- ment 'Jesus in Thy neighbour') (nGO VO/0140), a registered vol- untary organisation in Malta. To build stamina and strength for the summit, the group trains between four to five hours, three times a week, around the hills of the Mal- tese Islands. Meanwhile, the team is organis- ing a number of events as a group and individually to raise as many funds as possible before they leave Malta in december. On the 1st of august a BBQ Charity dinner is being organized at Luzzu in Qawra. GasanMamo Insurance supports the Malta Diabetes Association GaSanMaMO In- surance has sup- ported the Malta diabetes association in their annual fund raising event, dine 4 diabetes held in June at the westin drago- nara hotel in St. Ju- lians. This year's event was attended by over 350 guests from all walks of life and had the main aim to raise funds that will assist the association in its mission. "as the leading in- surance company in Malta, we feel that helping out asso- ciations such as the Malta diabetes as- sociation is rooted in our values. Invest|Pro has been deployed on a five-year licence to calcu- late daily unit prices and run ap- propriations and trading across MSV's unit-linked products.
