maltatoday, SUNDAY, 1 MAY 2016 39 THE Rock Opera Group of Vit- toriosa is once again producing the highly acclaimed musical 'We Will Rock You' on the 6th, 7th and the 8th of May. The musical, inspired by the timeless songs of the legendary group Queen and written by Ben Elton, will be per- formed at the Main Auditorium Vittoriosa, by kind permission of Queen Theatrical Productions Ltd & www.schoolswillrockyou. com. 'We Will Rock You' is a joint production of KFSL and SZP, who for the past 30 years have been organising theatrical and musical events in the City of Vit- toriosa. The group is made up of more than 80 multi-talented production team and cast, who worked together tirelessly for the last six months to produce a vi- brant and exciting show. Apart from acting the various parts the members were responsible for the stage props, the choreogra- phy, the costumes design and all the other complex details that such a production entails, all under the direction of Matthew Raggio. The musical is performed to more than 24 of Queen's biggest hit songs, including 'We are the Champions', 'Radio Ga Ga', 'Kill- er Queen', 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Another One Bites The Dust' and of course, 'We Will Rock You'. 'We Will Rock You' takes place some 300 years from now, in a world where any reason for living is dictated by one com- pany – Globalsoft Corporation. Globalsoft rules the world and controls what people hear, what they wear and what they see on TV. There is no room for indi- vidual expression and most im- portantly – no music! Literary, it is a world without music! Is there hope on the horizon? A group of rebels living underground known as 'The Bohemians' search for 'The Dreamer', their saviour, the man who could lead the Bohemi- ans to overthrow Globalsoft and return the world to normality … that is a world with music! It is a rebellion that is meant to give back to the world its liber- ty. The rebels believe that there was once a Golden Age, when kids formed their own bands and wrote their own songs. They call that time, 'The Rhapsody'. Legend persists that somewhere on the iPlanet musical instru- ments still exist. Somewhere, the mighty axe of a great and hairy guitar god lies buried deep in rock. Will the Bohemians suc- ceed in finding this axe and draw it from stone? 'We Will Rock You' promises to be an unfor- gettable night with hits from the legendary group Queen, coupled with some excellent choreogra- phy and acting.
