The Spartans created the first chance of the match on the 12th minute. Following a corner, Manolito Micallef forced a good save from Andrea Cassar. However, against the run of pay, Tarxien went ahead on the 30th minute. Dylan Micallef delivered the ball towards Alex Nilsson whose effort gave David Cassar no chance. Hamrun equalised on the 35th minute. Jake Grech fired a strong shot past Cassar. On the 50th minute, Micallef of Ħamrun attempted a shot that went high. Eight minutes later, Hamrun had a good chance to go ahead for the first time. Siraj Eddin Arab went inside the penalty area and fired a shot from close range that was well saved by Cassar. In the additional time given by the referee, Tarxien were un- lucky not to score the winning goal. Daniel Ponce De Leon Gar- cia fired a powerful drive that hit the woodwork.
