maltatoday, SUNDAY, 14 MAY 2017 Events 53 The GO Cares Employee Fund has donated €2,500 to the Daughters of the Sacred Heart to support their missionary work in Tanzania. The funds were raised by GO employees through a figol- li sale last Easter. "Every year GO employees or- ganise numerous fundraising initiatives and events to help those in need, both in Malta and abroad, senior manager of HR operations Josephine Grima, presenting the funds to Sr An- toinette Calleja. "The Daughters of the Sacred Heart, founded in Malta in 1903 by Madre Teresa Nuzzo, do a fantastic job both in providing education and support to hundreds of children in Malta and by working in other com- munities that have very limited resources. Education is of course close to our hearts and the key to our future, so I would like to thank all GO staff for supporting this activity." The GO Cares Employee Fund is an initiative through which GO employees also voluntar- ily donate a small contribution from their salary on a monthly basis. GO employees are able to support various worthy causes by organising different activities during the year and making use of donations made through this Employee Fund. To say thank you to the mothers at HSBC Malta on Mother's Day, the bank created a little surprise for some of the mums. Throughout the month of April, forms were sent out to colleagues who are mothers to take home and get their kids to fill out. The sim- ple questions included "Why do you love your mum?" and "What would you like to buy your mum for Mother's day?" All of the mums who submitted a form received a memento car- rying the children's kind and, in some cases, humorous words. In addition to this, a few responses were drawn for a slightly bigger surprise. For these mums, the bank arranged for the children and their dads to visit their mum at work and surprise them with the gifts that they had written on the form. The moments were caught on film and have been made into a video that really captures the ap- preciation and affection that chil- dren have for their mums. The video is available on HSBC Malta's facebook page. "At HSBC, we wanted to cel- ebrate the contribution mums make both at work and at home. The aim of this video is to simply say thank you to all mums who work with us," HSBC Bank Malta CEO Andrew Beane said. HSBC Malta is endeavouring to be an employer of choice in Malta in terms of its commitment to- wards flexibility, diversity, and women advancement at the work- place. Cisk now widely available in South Korea Cisk is now available in around 350 retail stores in South Korea including 300 Lotte Supermarkets and 10 Lotte Department Stores, the number one retail chain in South Korea. This is the first time that Cisk, the flagship brand of the Farsons Brewery, has secured such wide- spread retail distribution outside of Malta. "Working closely with our part- ners in Korea, the entry of Cisk into the big Lotte retail chain is a significant achievement, mark- ing an important milestone in our journey to penetrate the market," Stephen Sultana, head of interna- tional business at Farsons Group, said. In addition to being present in over 350 retail stores in Korea, Cisk and other beers in the Far- sons range are also available in around 100 bars and restaurants in Seoul. "Generally speaking the typical Korean beer drinker tends to be well conversant with differ- ent beer styles which explains why the craft beer phenomenon in Ko- rea is booming right now," Sultana added. Last week, Farsons also took part in the Seoul Wine & Spirits Fair held at the COEX Centre in downtown Seoul. The event is Ko- rea's premiere wine, beer and spir- its show with hundreds of trade visitors. During this event, the brewery also launched its Farsons range of speciality ales in Korea, including Farsons Double Red Strong Ale, Farsons India Pale Ale and Far- sons Blue Label Amber Ale. "The competition in Korea, like all markets overseas, is incred- ibly tough and as a mid-sized independent brewery we are up against global brands with signifi- cant resources at their disposal. There are no guarantees in export but following a series of invest- ments in our people, brands and operations we are today better equipped to compete internation- ally and secure new opportunities for growth," Sultana concluded.
