15 WHAT'S ON WHAT'S ON TODAY Truth || Lies Collective and exhibition by local and international artists themed around the mutability of the truth in the current media landscape, held at Blitz, St Lucy Street, Valletta. Featured artists include: Armenoui Kasparian Saraidari, Sara Rees, Giuseppe Torre, Erica Giusta, Guillaume Dreyfuss, Jacques Borg Barthet, Manali Jagtap-Nyheim, Tom Bull, Philip Cartelli, Mariangela Ciccarello, Arnold Aganze, Ina Lounguine, Will Henry Carter and Neale Willis. The exhibition will open on April 20 at 19:00, and remain on display at the venue until May 17. Opening times at Blitz are: 10:00-15:00 (Tuesday to Thursday); 15:00 to 19:00 (Friday and Saturday). In Guardia Parade Historical re-enactment at Fort St Elmo Place, Valletta at 11:00. The re-enactment portrays the inspection of the fort and its garrison by the Grand Bailiff of the Order of the Knights of St. John in charge of military affairs. During the re-enactment, of the fort's garrison - some 50 re-enactors in all, kitted-out in their uniforms perform their military drill to demonstrate to the Grand Bailiff its state of readiness. Payment at the door. KA An exhibition of photographs by Joe P Smith, Darrin Zammit Lupi and John Grech featuring Mavin Khoo during dance performances in Malta. The images will be projected on a white wall. One framed photo of Mavin from his first performance in Malta, taken by Joe P Smith, will also hang in the space. MUSIC MAY 19 Fleshgod Apocalypse – Live in Malta Italian metal band Fleshgod Apocalypse will be performing at the Orpheum Theatre, Gzira at 19:00. MAY 19, 20 Malta World Music Festival First edition of the Malta World Music Festival at Fort St Elmo, Valletta at 20:00. Featuring local and international acts including Brodu (Malta), Brodu (Malta), Tsuumi Sound System (Finland) Tiwiza (Algeria/ France), The Khoury Project (Jordan), Sona Jobarteh (Gambia) and BandAdriatica (Italy). Theme for the May 20 edition will be 'Narcos vs Breaking Bad' – dress code for visitors will be either Pablo Escobar or characters from Breaking Bad. Entrance is at €3. EXHIBITION MAY 24-JUNE 24 From a Distance: Gulja Holland Exhibition of paintings by Gulja Holland inspired by environmental issues, exhibited at Lily Agius Gallery, Sliema. UNTIL JUNE 11 Consume Exhibition by Victor Agius at the Spaces C1-C4 at Spazju Kreattiv, St James Cavalier, Valletta. Consume speaks about how through time, human intervention and displacement; matter, objects and quotidian artefacts experience transformation. There will be an artist's talk at the venue on May 20 at 19:30. Curated by Irene Biolchini. The project is also part of the VIVA 2017 programme. THEATRE MAY 19 SOMNA Dance performance taking place at the Malta Postal Museum, Archbishop Street, Valletta at 20:30. A collaborative effort by performing artists Eszter Joó, Francesca Zammit, Julia Camilleri and photographer Zvezdan Reljić. Admission is free of charge, but donations are welcome. Donations of €5 or more will be given a catalogue of the exhibition. The photography exhibition will be on display until June 10. MAY 26 Star of Strait Street Musical theatre performance based on historical characters during WWII at the MADC Playhouse, Santa Venera at 19:00 and 21:00. Polly March and Larissa Bonaci star with Geoff Thomas in this original musical play by Philip Glassborow which retells Christina Ratcliffe and Adrian Warburton's true-life story using extracts from Christina Ratcliffe's own writings, and the new book Malta's Greater Siege and Adrian Warburton DSO* DFC** DFC (USA) by Paul McDonald OBE.
