22 maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 17 MAY 2017 Sport MOTORSPORTS Next Autocross and Motocross events this Sunday THE 'Assocjazzjoni Sport Mu- turi u Karozzi' will be holding the eighth programme from ASMK Pasta Poiatti 2016/2017 for the Autocross and Moto- cross this Sunday. The day's programme is scheduled to start at 8am with Motocross while the Autocross races start at 1pm. ASMK said this programme will be the last one taking place during the day on Sunday as from the next event all racing is scheduled to start on Saturday afternoon and run till late in the evening and into the night. A quick look at the Motocross classification after five events of the National Motocross Championship shows that Paul Muscat on 450cc KTM is at the front standings with 232 points, followed by David Di- mech on a 450cc Honda with 190 points. In Third place we find Clay- ton Camilleri on a KTM 350cc with 185 points. In the Class B Motocross Ryan Faenza on a Yamaha 250cc tops the scale with 209 points and is followed by Elvin Debono on a Kawasaki 250cc with 131 points. Third place is held by Peter Lee Sammut on a KTM 250cc motorcycle with 128 points. In the Veteran Motocross Class William Sant on his Su- zuki 250cc is the leader with 228 points. Paul Deguara on a KTM 250 follows very close to Sant in 2nd place with 226 points. Third place is now oc- cupied by Jethro Sant on a Yamaha 250cc with 216 points. Meanwhile on Saturday 13th May ASMK held the Fifth En- duro event in a quarry of Tas- Saghtar in-Naxxar. This activ- ity was supported by Blokrete Ltd. and Dunlop Tires. Al- though we had a small number of competitors the event was very interesting to ride and watch and we had these results. In Class A Krist Falzon rid- ing a 125cc Honda motorcycle dominated with a best time of 3 minutes 46.70 seconds. Bran- don Attard on KTM 200cc with a time of 5 minutes 14.51 seconds followed Falzon in 2nd place. In Class B Joseph Sciclu- na on KTM 250cc motorcycle again dominated and won the day with his best time of 2 min- utes 34.37 seconds. Scicluna was followed by Ber- nard Sammut on a KTM 300cc with his best time of 2 minutes 42.29 seconds while third place finisher David Micallef on a KTM 250cc motorcycle run the track in 3 minutes 7.85 sec- onds. On 7th May the Camilleri brothers, Clayton and Kyle, participated for the first time this year in the FMI Regional Championship of Sicily organ- ized by the Italian Federation for Motocross racing. The event took place at Valle Alcan- tara in Francavilla in Messina Sicilia. Clayton competed in the MX1 class for riders Over 21 on a 350cc KTM and won a podi- um finish of 3rd Overall in this highly competitive class. Kyle competed in the Under 21 MX2 class on a KTM 250cc motor- cycle. Kyle also performed a very good performance by win- ning Fourth place overall in his first competition abroad in the FMI Championship in Fran- cavilla in Sicily. The Camilleri brothers have already prepared for the next FMI Champion- ship event taking place on the 11th July which is scheduled to be held at Hi-Fly Motocross circuit in the city of Carlentini, province of Siracusa. Meanwhile, the ASMK wish to inform the public that since Malta is in the general election campaign the event which was scheduled to be held on 3rd June, election day, is cancelled for a new date which is to be announced later by the execu- tive committee.
