maltatoday WEDNESDAY 6 DECEMBER 2017 THIS WEEK 15 WHAT'S ON EXHIBITIONS UNTIL DECEMBER 8 Human_Construct First major solo exhibition by Maltese artist Kane Cali at Blitz, St Lucy Street, Valletta. The works include busts cast in concrete and created through a process of digital scanning and printing. Ceramic objects are slip cast, while glass objects are created through lost wax casting. A series of prints is on high quality archival paper. Marble and concrete relief works come from a collaboration with Reuben Lautier, and a collaboration with FabLab Valletta is a hologram – a work created purely from light! UNTIL DECEMBER 9 Dik il-Qtajra & Babies Series by Gabriel Buttigieg Exhibition of paintings by Gabriel Buttiġieġ inspired by his father Alfred's once-censored chapbook 'Dik il-Qtajra' at MARIE Gallery5, Mosta. UNTIL DECEMBER 10 iMprint Iii: Intaglio, A Creative Text iMprint III is the first curated exhibition of intaglio techniques showcasing original works by world renowned artists such as Marc Chagall, Victor Pasmore, Marino Marini, Gino Severini and others. It will also feature original intaglio works by local and international practicing artists and printmakers. More information: http://artsmalta. org/. UNTIL JANUARY 13 No Minimum Presence Required Exhibition of new work by the Fenêtreproject (Dustin Cauchi, Francesca Mangion) at Malta Contemporary Art, 12, Felix Street, Valletta. Opening hours: 13:00 – 18:00 (Tuesday – Friday); 10:00 – 13:00 (Saturday). UNTIL DECEMBER 10 Kreaturi Collective exhibition of work by children at Spazju Kreattiv at St James Cavalier, Valletta. Kreaturi, a Gabriel Caruana Foundation project, introduces children to modern and contemporary art, Gabriel Caruana, and the Mill – Art, Culture and Crafts Centre, while encouraging creative expression through ceramic sculpture. Last August a group of children participated in eight workshops at The Mill – Art, Culture and Crafts centre, Birkirkara. Supported by Arts Council Malta, Creative Communities fund, co- sponsored by APS Bank and part of the Spazju Kreattiv and ŻiguŻajg Festival programmes. UNTIL DECEMBER 12 REL•INK – Indelible Narratives Collective exhibition drawing on the history of tattoos in Malta, on display at the Malta Maritime Museum, Birgu. Featuring oral accounts and images of tattoo designs of elderly Maltese men, who worked on ships or on the waterfront as stevedores, fishermen, longshoremen, dockers, sail makers, sailors, stewards, coalmen, firemen, Royal Navy service men, Merchant Navy men, firemen, stokers, labourers and others. REL•INK is a community outreach project in collaboration with the Malta Maritime Museum, the Library Information and Archive Sciences Department of the University of Malta and Arts Council Malta. UNTIL DECEMBER 16 An Accidental Find Exhibition of sculptures by Paul Scerri at The Pop-Up Gallery, 37, Treasury Street, Valletta. According to the artist: "They visualise a metaphor of emotions devouring society, the human vulnerability and imperfections. The natural beauty is paying the price of human greed and my endless questioning of what is correct or "socially correct"... a difficult choice". More information: info@mariegallery5.com. MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT DECEMBER 7 Hadd Ma Jaf Xejn Concert of satirical songs by 'Cikku L-Poplu', the comedic alter-ego to pianist Alex Vella Gregory, at Offbeat, Merchants Street, Valletta at 20:00. 'Cikku' will be joined on the stage by Marliu Vella and Maria Pia Meli. Entrance is free. DECEMBER 9 Fuzzhoneys Femmetastic Zine Launch Concert and zine launch by Fuzzhoneys at Rumours, Pieta. The hand-made 'Femmetastic Zine', which will be on sale on the night, also includes a CD with three original tracks. Accompanied by DJ sets from Jumblist Movement and Sunta. Entrance is at €10 with zine, €7 without Zine. DECEMBER 15 Take Me to Your Leader Rock concert featuring Shlamizard, Heart Of Darkness and Krishna. Doors open at 21:00. Entrance is at €7. DECEMBER 16 Ou Est Le Pantie? // Bye Felicia! Indie, disco, electronica party at Rumours, Pieta. Featuring DJs Ritty, Uma and Sunta. Entrance is at €5. Doors open at 21:00. LITERATURE DECEMBER 6 The Launch of Alfred Buttigieg: The Collected Plays Launch of the collected plays of Maltese playwright Alfred Buttigieg at the School of Art, Old Bakery Street, Valletta at 19:30. Following a 30-minute discussion between the four directors of his plays (Immanuel Mifsud, Michael Fenech, Malcolm Galea and Tyrone Grima), guests will be able to meet the author. The translations of the works included in The Collected Plays were carried out by Irene Mangion (bar the one for The Priests' Revolt, which was completed by Marco Galea) and were funded by the Malta Arts Fund.
