maltatoday WEDNESDAY 6 DECEMBER 2017 17 Events Fundacion MAPFRE Awards to acknowledge entities contributing to society FUNDACION MAPFRE has launched the ninth edition of the international awards, aimed to reward the com- mitment of the people and institutions who have made outstanding contributions to society in the fields of science, culture and the humanities. The awards, which are in- ternational and come with a cash prize of 30,000 euros each, are granted in six cat- egories. The Lifetime Achievement Award, José Manuel Martínez Martínez recognises people who have a prolific and ex- emplary professional history in the service of people and society. The Award for Best Social Action Initiative will reward people or organisa- tions who have taken signifi- cant steps to improve the in- tegration and quality of life of disadvantaged social groups, and to help them overcome physical, financial or social limitations. The Award for the Best Health Promotion Initiative will acknowledge important contributions made by insti- tutions or people to promot- ing health and improving quality of life. The Award for the Best Ac- cident Prevention Initiative is granted to organisations or people who have significantly contributed to the effective prevention and reduction of traffic, domestic, sports-re- lated or leisure activity acci- dents. The Julio Castelo Matrán In- ternational Insurance Award recognises significant scien- tific research or innovative projects whose results have led to the expansion of insur- ance activities in society and contributed to economic sta- bility and solidarity through insurance and/or social pro- tection. The deadline for applica- tions for the six awards is March 1, 2018. HSBC Malta is joining 18 other HSBC countries in the annual Toy Drive Cisk Pilsner featured on Spanish list of 'Best beers in the world' FOLLOWING its prestigious performance in the World Beer Awards 2017 held earlier this year, where Cisk Pilsner was voted the World's Best Czech Style Pale Lager, Cisk Pilsner has featured on the list of 25 Best Beers in the World according to the World Beer Awards 2017 published on Spanish portal bonviveur.es. The site, introduced as a por- tal by and for gastronomy lov- ers, aims to provide its Spanish readers with product news and restaurant guides for the bon vivant. The World Beer Awards are described on the portal as one of the most prestigious beer competitions on the planet. In winning this honour, Cisk Pilsner, originally brewed by Farsons Brewery in the late 1940s, and relaunched just last year, beat 18 other countries including the Czech Republic itself. "Endorsements on inter- national media such as this continue to reinforce our con- viction of the top quality and international potential of our brands," commented Michael Farrugia, Chief Business De- velopment Officer at Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. "The World Beers Awards is only one of the honours awarded to our beers during 2017, with the list of achieve- ments including placings at the Australian International Beer Awards, the International Beer Challenge and just recently the Brussels Beer Challenge." Cisk Pilsner is a premium Pilsner combining a tradition of brewing excellence and pas- sion with the finest quality Pilsen malt and Noble hops of the Saaz variety. With an alco- hol content of 5.5%, Cisk Pilsner offers the discerning beer con- noisseur a remarkably crisp and well-hopped flavour with a rich white head, a delicate bitterness and a superior aroma originat- ing from the rich essential oils present in the Noble hops. AXA - Global Healthcare awarded Best International Private Health Insurance Provider AXA'S global healthcare team has recently been awarded the Best International Private Health Insurance Provider at the International Fund and Product Awards for the second year running. These Awards are organised by In- ternational Investment, a business intelligence publica- tion. Other nominees within the category included Allianz, Generali, Aetna and Now Health. The team was pleased to be recognised for their commit- ment to keeping customers at the top of their priorities, as well as providing excellent customer service. When cou- pled with AXA's 75 plus years of specialist global healthcare experience, the resulting syn- ergies worldwide are of tre- mendous benefit to members.
