On Sunday 10 December 2017 the ASMK will be organising the second event of the Nation- al WotoMoto Enduro Cham- pionship 2017/2018. This will take place in the Quarry of Tal- Maghlaq limits of Qrendi and starts at 10:00am. Non-ASMK members are welcome too. Meanwhile on Sunday 3rd December 2017 ASMK or- ganised the third event of the ASMK Pasta Poiatti 2017/2018 National Autocross Champi- onship at Ta Qali. For this ac- tivity 21 drivers registered for this race. They were divided in the Modified and the Standard Class. During the day we saw all competitors racing on the track containing the 'S-Bend' while the Joker Lap race was introduced into this. This time the Joker Lap was used so that each competitor had to drive one lap of his own choice on a longer track side, both during the Heats and also during the Final Class A and B Races. At the end of the three quali- fying Heats Karl Micallef on Ford Fiesta dominated the day as he won the highest points to- tal and assured his place in the Final of Class A. With Micallef, the other qualifiers were Jean Paul Grech on a Peugeot 106, the Volkswagen Polo of Vince Farrugia, Noel Zammit on his Fiat Punto, the Opel Corsa of Ryan Scerri and Andrew Pisani on his Vauxhall Nova. The qualifiers for Class B Final were Gary Grech and Gordon Johnson both on Opel Corsa B cars, the Ford Fiesta of Ryan Scicluna, Keith Borg on a Vauxhall Nova and Brandon Lee Vassallo on his Peugeot 205. Both Class A and Class B Fi- nals had to be postponed fol- lowing an accident during the Final of the Autocross Standard Class as by this time the even- ing started getting dark. The Autocross organising commit- tee decided to postpone the remaining two Finals of Class A and B for another day which is expected to be announced in the near future. In the Standard Autocross Class Nicovich Chircop on his Peugeot 106 won the high- est qualifying points during the Heats of the day. Chircop placed on the Start Line to- gether with Johann Vella on an Opel Nova, Kyle Agius on a Renault 5, Deane Farrugia on a Citroen AX, Chris Formosa on a Ford Fiesta and Quinn Camilleri on a Peugoet 106. With the start of this final we saw Vella and Chircop dash rapidly to the first corner with Vella taking the helm of the race, followed by Chircop and Camilleri who was followed by Agius and Formosa. The attention then moved on the last placed Farrugia who man- aged to overcome Formosa and began challenging Agius. The race continued between Agius and Farrugia for a number of Laps while Agius and Farrugia were occupying the third and fourth places. Just a few metres before the end of the race Far- rugia entered sideways to Ag- ius. While the latter made an attempt to hold his place, con- sequently Farrugia made con- tact with Agius which resulted in Agius hitting the tire barrier by the roadside and overturned his car. Despite this happened only some 30 metres away from the Finish Line the race was stopped and all precautions were taken. Agius who suffered no injury was examined by the medical team that is always present on the spot. The final Autocross Standard Class result reads - Vella is the race winner followed by Chir- cop. The other placings has to be confirmed by the Executive Committee after reviewing the referee's decision about Far- rugia who can be suspended following his action on Agius during this race final.
