Successful end to the festival of ZiguZajg 2017 The International Arts Festival for Chil- dren and Young People came to an end on November 26 with a variety of shows around Valletta. Around 20,000 people, 8,000 of whom children and youth coming from 43 different schools, attended this year's seventh edition of ŻiguŻajg which was spread over 10 days and which featured no less than 25 projects, 10 of which were local productions and 15 of which were international. In total the festival featured 96 representations, all of which took place in various squares and other venues around the capital city of Valletta. This year ŻiguŻajg also had an exclusive programme in Gozo with productions being held in Don Bosco Theatre and the Sannat school. Throughout the festival, a series of discussions took place with local and international artists with the aim of building new collaborations with these communities and improving the level of the produc- tions being presented. The Director of the festival, Daniel Azzopardi, explained how the ultimate goal of this year's edition of ŻiguŻajg was to celebrate arts and creativity through projects of high quality which reflect the thoughts of children and youth. In this year's programme, around 150 artists took part, some of whom were Maltese and others were in- ternational. The latter presented the audience with some world-famous shows from 12 different coun- tries. Throughout the festival, 15 different forms of creative art were exhibited, most of which commis- sioned and presented by Maltese artists for the first time. The feedback given by the general public was a very positive one and mostly directed to the possibility of the next edition of ŻiguŻajg. Any suggestions for the eighth edition of ŻiguŻajg, to be held between November 16 and 25, 2018 are very wel- come. More details can be found on www.ziguzajg.org
