44 Events maltatoday SUNDAY 10 DECEMBER 2017 50 years at the helm of Vassallo Group Nazzareno Vassallo, chairman of Vassallo Group recently cel- ebrated 50 years of leadership of the group through various events held over three days. The programme of events kicked off with a mass celebrat- ed at the chapel of Casa Arkati, (CareMalta's first home for the elderly) followed by a business breakfast organised by the com- pany. For this occasion CareMal- ta's directors, top management and a number of employees were invited. This event was followed by a lunch held on one of Vas- sallo Builders' sites, One-One-O Sliema, for all construction work- ers who are currently deployed at the company's construction sites. Celebrations included a classi- cal concert under the direction of Mro Michael Laus held at the Vassallo residence at St Martin's Estates limits of Mgarr. Some of Malta's top musicians took part in the concert. Guests for this oc- casion included the group's direc- tors and top management, busi- ness partners, bankers as well as other personalities. The last day of celebrations started off with a business breakfast organised by CaterEssence, another company within the Vassallo Group. This event, for which all the company's directors and management team were present, was then followed by a brunch for all the group's Head Office staff. Celebrations were brought to an end on the same day with a dinner organised by Vassallo Builders at which a number of current and past directors and managers were present. At the end of the evening Vas- sallo was presented with a Bed- ford J Type truck bearing the same number plate of one of the first trucks owned by the compa- ny after he took over the running of the group from his father Pio in 1967. Vassallo Group was set up in the aftermath of the Second World War in 1946 as a construction company which over the years de- veloped into one of Malta's most diverse group of companies, also incorporating care for the elderly, persons with disabilities, catering, hospitality, property management and education.
