The exhibition exists parallel with the opening of Valletta2018 Capital of Culture. Body of work on show con- sists of paintings and a series of 18 oil pastel drawings, some being part of a series exhibited online between May-August 2017. UNTIL JANUARY 28 In Between Obliterations Visual art exhibition by Maxine Attard at The Mill – Art, Culture and Crafts Centre, Bwieraq Street, Birkirkara. Open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 17:00 to 19:00 (excluding January 22 and 24). Attard will be at The Mill today and January 21 from 11:00 to 17:00. UNTIL JANUARY 31 Nowhere People: Photography Exhibition by Greg Constantine Photography exhibition by Greg Constantine at the Malta Postal Museum, Archbishop Street, Val- letta. Organised by UNHCR Malta as part of the #IBelong campaign to end statelessness, with a selection of photos taken in Myanmar, Italy and Malta. FEBRUARY 2-MARCH 1 Embedded Exhibition of paintings by Wiolet- ta Kulewska at Palazzo de La Salle, Republic Street, Valletta. A collec- tion of abstract, biomorphic paint- ings by Wioletta Kulewska, inspired by the marine fossil remains found inside Maltese limestone. Opening hours: 08:30-19:00 (Monday to Fri- day); 08:30-13:30 (Saturdays). UNTIL FEBRUARY 11 White Memory – 1989/2018 Art in Malta and Poland Exhibition curated by Irene Bi- olchini and Marinella Paderni at Spazju Kreattiv at St James Cavalier, Valletta. The exhibition revolves around the ties between Malta and Poland and the search for identity in the present – which also represents the promise for the future. White is the colour of pureness, but it is also the colour used to cancel, to erase, thus presenting the leitmotiv of this exhibition. Featured artists in- clude: Artists: Victor Agius, Paweł Althamer, Norbert Francis Attard, Ewa Axelrad, Miroslaw Balka, Vince Briffa, Austin Camilleri, Gabriel Caruana, Alicja Dobrucka, Nico- las Grospierre, Magda Skupinska, Mark Mangion, Agnieska Polska, Pierre Portelli, Jósef Robakowski, Raphael Vella, Jakub Woynarowski. This project is supported by the Malta Arts Council and the Polish Institute in Rome and endorsed by the Valletta 2018 Foundation. VALLETTA 2018 JANUARY 20 Valletta 2018 Opening Ceremony Valletta 2018's Opening Week draws crowds to the heart of Val- letta with music and entertainment, street artists and performers spread- ing word of the Opening around the capital's streets, exhibitions set in diverse venues around the city, open days that re-discover Val- letta's fascinating historical spaces, community storytelling events centred around the city's residents and the spaces they use, and much more. It will encompass Valletta's four main squares – St George's Square, St John's Square, Castille Square, and the area around the Triton Fountain – where the Cata- lan theatrical group, La Fura dels Baus, blurs the line between audi- ence and performer with outdoor acrobatics, while ŻfinMalta offer contemporary dance performanc- es. The event will feature digital projections, video art and choral symphony lend the capital a won- drous and magical atmosphere. MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT UNTIL JANUARY 27 Valletta International Baroque Festival Since its launch in 2013, the Val- letta International Baroque Festival has treated audiences to a unique event featuring some of the best ensembles on the baroque music scene. Taking as its main venue one of the oldest working theatres in the world, Teatru Manoel, this prestigious two-week festival also plays out within many wonderful baroque and historical venues, such as St John's Co-Cathedral and the Grandmaster's Palace. This year's musical programme has once again secured some of the best contem- porary exponents of Baroque mu- sic from the international and local sphere to contribute to the celebra- tion of Malta's capital. Featuring the bands Goldstein (in their live debut), Kingdoms of Dusk and Lady Lizard. Doors open at 21:00. Entrance is at €5. THEATRE FEBRUARY 2-4 My Fair Lady – The Musical Musical production based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmal- ion and produced by FM Theatre Productions. Taking place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta at 20:00 on February 2 and 3, and 15:30 and 19:00 on February 4. Directed by Denise Mulholland, with Kris Spiteri as musical director and choreography by Emma Loftus. Bookings: mcc.com.mt. FEBRUARY 2-4 Antigone A Teatru Manoel production of Jean Anouilh's Antigone, which transposes the action of Sophocles' Greek tragedy of the same name to World War II.
