For four days, the city's historic streets come to life with marching bands, fancy dress competitions and dancers in elaborate costume. But the highlight of this age-old celebra- tion is certainly the carnival f loat parade that features all manner of impressive handmade f loats – some allegorical, some sa- tirical and others just plain fun, fantastical and whacky. L-Għarusa Karfusa is your classic tale of forbidden love between a fruit and a vegetable. In this absurd satirical universe where the villagers are named after vegetables, the inhabitants of 'Ħal-Insalata' are forbidden to talk to ones left in the forbidden quarantine; let alone fall in love! When Karfusa from the vegeta- ble hamlet lays her pretty eyes on Bajtru in the scheduled quar- antine, all hell breaks loose. The show will be staged at the follow- ing venues and times: Valletta: February 10 (17:00, 18:00, 19:00), Ħamrun: February 11 (09.30), Victoria: February 11 (15.30 and 18.00), Nadur: February 11 (20:30) and Għaxaq: February 12 (19.30).
