6 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 JUNE 2018 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON EXHIBITIONS JUNE 29- JULY 9 Exile Voices Philanthropist, idealist, hu- manist and renowned photo- journalist, Reza Deghati has spent the last 40 years shar- ing with the world his unique photographs capturing peo- ple, cultures and traditions, thereby enabling a deeper un- derstanding between human beings. The priority of Reza is to provide visual educa- tion to vulnerable communi- ties in order to give them the means of becoming trained and able to express them- selves through photography. The exhibition will be held at the Grand Master's Palace in Valletta and entrance is free. UNTIL JULY 1 Dal-Bahar Madwarha The major visual arts ex- hibition of Valletta 2018 – commemorating the capital city's adoption of the Euro- pean Capital of Culture title in 2018. Curated by Maren Richter, the exhibition will be taking place across vari- ous venues. These include the Pixkerija, the Examina- tions Centre and the Under- ground Cistern, all in Vallet- ta. The exhibition has been organised entirely by the students themselves, and all the artists and their lec- turers will be present at the opening event. Entrance is free and refreshments will be available. MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT JUNE 27 – JULY 1 Isle Of MT V Music Week Isle of MTV music week is just around the corner, offer- ing good music and fun times. Stretched over a week, Isle of MTV will see musical stars performing in Malta, includ- ing Sigala, Paloma Faith and Jason Derulo. For more infor- mation on dates and tickets, go to Isle of MTV Facebook page or website. JULY 30 – AUGUST 30 Rock'N Malta Rock'N Malta will feature various concerts throughout August. Featuring Gogol Bor- dello and Brodu on 30 July, Julian Marley and The Upsid- ers, as well as ManaTapu on 18 August, Dark Tranquility, Evergrey, and Colourblind on 24 August, and Kaiser Chiefs and Bila on 30 August. JULY 1 Joseph Calleja Concert 2018 with Eros Ramazzotti The World's leading and fin- est lyric tenor Joseph Calleja will be performing at the Gra- naries in Floriana on the 21st July. The Grammy-nominat- ed recording artist for Decca Classics, has released five so- lo albums for the label and is famed for a golden-age voice that inspires comparisons to legendary singers from ear- lier eras including Jussi Björ- ling, Beniamino Gigli and Enrico Caruso. Joseph Calleja will be joined by Italian star Eros Ramazotti and Malta's Philharmonic Orchestra. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE JUNE 29 Eyes to Argus + Goldstein Summer Daze Malta Night of progressive and doom metal music at Ru- mours, Pieta. Performing bands include Eyes to Argus and Goldstein. Doors open at 21:00. Entrance is at €5. AUGUST 14-15 Summer Daze Malta Summer Daze Malta will fea- ture three main events. Tues- day 14 will see two events. A free party at Ta'Qali featur- ing Martin Garrix, Rita Ora, Danny Howard, and more, and an after party at Numero Uno. The festival will close with a sunset pool party at Café Del Mar on Wednesday 15, with Roger Sanchez, Monki and Kristen Knight. Book your tickets on summerdazemalta. com THEATRE JULY 13-22 MADC As You Like It Directed by Philip Leone- Ganado and starring some of Malta's best established and up-and-coming actors, accom- panied by live music, MADC presents a fresh and accessible take on the classic comedy un- der the stars in the inimitable setting of San Anton Gardens. Performances run from Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd July at 8:30pm. There will be no per- formance on Sunday 15th July. Tickets at €15 and €20. Open- ing night tickets at only €12. WINE FESTIVAL JUNE 29 Vittoriosa Wine Festival The Vittoriosa wine fes- tival will take place at the magnificent Couvre Porte, surrounded by some of Bir- gu's oldest fortifications and picturesque views. The gate also serves as an entrance to the Vittoriosa Ditch. Event starts at 7.30pm serving a variety of wine all night. Live performers will entertain the crowd in different spots of the fortifications playing some very good music. En- trance is free, with donations for ALS Malta to be collected at the entrances. AUGUST 9-12 Delicata Classic Wine Festival The Delicata Classic Wine Festival is back for its 17th consecutive edition. As al- ways, the festival will be held at the Upper Barrakka Gar- dens in Valletta, between the 9th and 12th of August. Entrance is free, with wine glasses and purses sold until 11pm and wine poured up to 11:30pm. Live cooking stalls will be serving a tempting variety of both traditional Maltese and international dishes to tease a wide range of palates. Another re-en- actment will be held at this fort on Sunday 21 October. The parade will take place at the Parade Ground in the centre of Fort St Angelo. The parade takes around 50 minutes and commenc- es at 11am. Tickets, both for the fort and the parade, are available from all Her- itage Malta museums and sites at €15 for adults, €12 seniors and students, and €7 children. Fort St Angelo opens from 9am till 6pm, last admission at 5.30pm. MARA - A Celebration Of Women Through Time The newly adapted MARA is back for two nights only before taking to the National Theatre of Scotland's Exchange Festi- val. An original, multidis- ciplinary piece of theatre that celebrates the story of women through time by means of sound manipu- lation and electro-acous- tic music, performed live by The New Victorians. MARA is an audiovisual journey through time, highlighting the fact that every story is worth telling, and that no voice should be silenced.
