17 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 29 JULY 2018 The wine festival of the year is back ONE of the biggest highlights on the wine enthusiast's calendar, the Delicata Classic Wine Festival organised by Mal- ta's foremost and award-winning Deli- cata winery, is back. The event will once again take place at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, from Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 August 2018, every evening from 7pm until mid- night, and it promises to be grander than ever. In all there are over 25 wines to sample. These include the semi-sparkling Friz- zantes made from the native old bush vines Girgentina and Ġellewża. There are the tasty white, red and rosé D.O.K. Malta Medina and D.O.K. Gozo Victoria Heights boutique wines, a selection of the flagship Gran Cavalier and Grand Vin de Hauteville ranges, as well as the sweeter lifestyle Dolcino and Falcon wines, the popular lush Casella Moscato and other varietals of the Classic Collection, and all three of the Pjazza Reġina wines. For the first time, the Spritzzers are showcased too. Delicata's brand of spritzers (or ready-mixed wine coolers) was released in Malta as early as 1997, at the time of all the rage in trendy bars in California, London and New York. At only 3.9 per cent alcohol, all three spritzers are semi-sparkling, medium- dry in style and bursting with fruity fla- vours. Entrance to the gardens is free. But to try the wines there is a fee of €15 for a handy wine purse which comes filled with 24 wine coins and complete with a souvenir glass which is yours to keep. Handing over the correct change of wine coins at the stalls inside will prompt dedicated wine stewards to pour a stand- ard 150ml glass of the wine on show in the festival glass. This 17th edition sees the introduction of a convenient online payment facility, which is operational already at Delicata's secure website www.delicata.com. Pre- payment will save you time queuing on the night since it allows you to collect your wine coins and glass from the dedi- cated online priority lane outside the gar- dens. Of course, the cash points remain open as usual too. Every evening there is a double-bill of great music, starting with an opening- night concert on Thursday by Kersten Graham + Band and The Crowns. Planet Seed and The Busker perform on Friday, Bernie & Pod and Spiteri Lucas Enter- tainment play on Saturday, and Cash & Band and Gianni & Rug close on Sunday. Live cooking stalls will be serving a tempting variety of both traditional Mal- tese and international dishes to tease a wide range of palates. Maltese favourites are prepared by Maypole, Indian dishes by Gate of India and other oriental dish- es by Asian House. There are also vari- ous cheese and charcuterie platters by Catermax as well as desserts. This is the showcase for Malta's wines par excellence. The enchanted atmos- phere, the breath-taking views of the world-class venue that is the Grand Harbour and the floodlit three cities will make anyone's visit truly memorable. Strictly no wine will be served to any- one under 17 and patrons are reminded to enjoy responsibly. Wine purses and glasses are sold until 11 pm, wine is poured up to 11.30 pm and the festival closes at midnight. With wonderful wines, delicious food and great live music, Delicata's festival weekend is set to be one you don't want to miss. SsangYong was propelled into the Maltese limelight on 11 June when the brand and its model line-up were launched at the dedicated SsangYong's showroom in Mdina Road, Attard. Not on- ly did the launch represent a milestone in Famalco Group's timeline, it also marked the date on which the public ac- quired a new sense of Korea's impressive capabilities. Through significant in- vestments, partnerships and collaborations SsangYong has successfully developed a model-line which exceeds customer expectations and desires – whether it's the 'Ko- rea's Can Do' vehicle; namely the Korando or the brand's sports utility truck the Mus- so. SsangYong's splendour was further displayed at Mon- tekristo Estates during this year's edition of Il-Fiera l- Kbira which was held be- tween the 12 and 22 July 2018. Throughout the event eager customers were pro- vided with the opportunity to view, feel and acquire in- formation on all SsangYong models as well as the brand's remarkable heritage. Il-Fiera l-Kbira served as a platform for customers to experience the 'SsangYong feel' during the fair, customers were able to benefit from the conveni- ence of booking test drives as well as, significantly desir- able offers – which have been extended till the end of July 2018. Given the incredible wel- come that SsangYong re- ceived since its launch, Fa- malco Group decided that it would provide the sponsored lottery car for this year's Fi- era l-Kbira. Following the fairs raffle, one lucky winner became the proud owner of the SsangYong Tivoli which personifies the slogan 'i lov it', being also written as Tivo- li in reverse Throughout the last 20 years Famalco Group's mo- bility business unit strived to provide the Maltese market with vehicles customers in- herently desire. As a result of its dedication towards mobil- ity, Famalco Group has been entrusted with an array of prestigious brands includ- ing: Harley-Davidson, KTM, Husqvarna and SsangYong – all of which were on display throughout Il-Fiera l-Kbira.
