When I was transitioning and in the years after that, when the situation in Malta was different to nowadays, people felt it was ok to discriminate against and sexually harass me. My proudest moment was walking the runway during Malta Fashion Week, especially after finding out that I was the first Maltese transgender woman to do so. What advice would you give to anyone who is struggling with their gender identity and is struggling to accept themselves? To reach out and seek support from any of the LGBTIQ+ NGOs on the island, try to surround yourself with genuine, supportive people and most importantly, always be true to yourself by listening to your heart. Why is celebrating Pride Week important to the LGBTIQ+ community, and yourself personally? Pride Week is a reminder to society that we, the LGBTIQ+ community exist in every sphere of life without being apologetic for who we truly are. Pride Week is a time where we honour the struggles of those who came before us, as well as those who are still struggling, and celebrate all of our achievements. The minute our community forgets what we went through to get here is the minute it could all be taken away. TELL US...
