The Malta Military Tattoo is a yearly event which fea- tures military bands and other elements which come together to provide a spec- tacular show for audiences of all ages. The music played combines popular tunes with the more classical and are all performed in the context of a Military March parade to provide a spectacular expe- rience for everyone to enjoy. The music chosen appeals to all ages. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE OCTOBER 3 Cliff Zammit Stevens – 10th Anniversary Concert The hugely-talented and i n t e r n a t i o n a l l y-r e n o w n e d tenor Cliff Zammit Stevens returns to Malta for his larg- est solo concert to-date, in a night of unforgettable music in celebration of the 10th an- niversary of his career. He will be joined by special guest Ira Losco. The concert will be held for one night only on 3 October 2018, in St George's Square in Valletta. The con- cert will also support The Marcy Foundation, which was launched in August this year in honour or Zammit Stevens' mother, who passed away last year. EXHIBITION 5 OCTOBER – NOVEMBER 2 Parallel Existences In his long-awaited new exhibition, celebrated pho- tographer Alex Attard cre- ates alternative identities for historical, centuries-old documents that were severe- ly damaged during the war, and which have since formed part of the Notarial Archives in Valletta. These never seen before, mangled and distort- ed volumes have lain static, buried in boxes, out of sight, for decades – their reason for being, gone. Parallel Exist- ences will be on show at Val- letta Contemporary in Val- letta between 5 October and 2 November 2018. THEATRE SEPT 14 -23 Stitching The banned play, Stitching, will finally be showing in Malta, at the Manoel Thea- tre next September. Anthony Neilson's masterpiece deal- ing with loss will be shown after it was banned for many years, hosted by Unifaun Theatre Production. Tickets for the 18+ play can be found on the Teatru Manuel Web- site at 20 euro. SEPTEMBER 28-29 Sfumat Sfumat recounts the story of Alex, in the words and actions of those around him, particu- latly his father Charles, and his daughter Maria. Alex nev- er appears on the play, with the audience forming their own opinion based on what the other characters reveal. The production, held at the Salesian Theatre, also marks ten years of the Salesian Wor- ship Team. OCTOBER 4-14 US/THEM The animated narrative, 'US/THEM', which sees bru- tal terrorism coinciding with child-like innocence, is com- ing to Strait Street. On 1 September 2004 – the first day of school, or Russian 'Knowledge Day' – a group of Chechen terrorists stormed into a school in the small town of Beslan, taking 1,200 hostages. The siege lasted three days. Hostages were confined within the walls of the school's gymnasium. The massacre left 334 dead, in- cluding 186 children. OCTOBER 5-14 The Jew of Malta This October, the MADC and Teatru Manoel are producing Christopher Marlowe's classic 1590s play The Jew of Malta. Director Chris Gatt describes the play as a "Dark, hilarious and sub- versive tragic-comedy. The Jew of Malta takes no prison- ers as Marlowe cynically dis- sects a world where politics, greed and the three Mediter- ranean religions - Catholic, Muslim, and Jewish - clash; skewering all three as he weaves a fast-paced story at once tragic, farcical, and ab- surd."
