11 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 2 JUNE 2019 LISTINGS TV & FILM SUNDAY Game of Thrones S8 Ep.1: "Winterfell" [Fantasy Drama] 10.45pm on Melita More (Channel 315) Upon reaching Winterfell with their combined armies, Jon and Daenerys learn the Army of the Dead has breached the Wall, and the Night King commands the undead Viserion. The Northern lords and their allies rally around Winterfell, but distrust Daenerys and doubt Cersei's pledge to send troops. At King's Landing, Euron returns from Essos with the Golden Company and entices Cersei to consummate their union. On Cersei's orders, Qyburn hires Bronn to assassinate Tyrion and Jaime. Theon rescues Yara, who then sets out to retake the Iron Islands, while Theon returns to Winterfell. At Winterfell, Jon reunites with Bran and Arya, and later learns to ride Rhaegal. Sam meets Daenerys, who reveals that she executed his father and brother. After Sam and Jon are reunited, Sam reveals Jon's true identity is Aegon Targaryen, king and rightful heir to the Iron Throne. MONDAY Powering the Future: "The Energy Planet" [Documentary] 8.10pm on Discovery Science (Channel 402) Follows the search for a single, clean energy source that will eliminate society's need for fossil fuels. Dr M. Sanjayan, lead scientist at The Nature Conservancy, looks at how the abundance of the planet's energy fuels every aspect of life on Earth. From wind, water, the sun, volcanoes, and hurricanes, to the smallest cells to the tallest trees, Earth has the natural energy to power the planet, but humans are not using it. What can humans learn from the creation of the natural world that will help create energy? The program examines promising technologies in the fields of synthetic biology and geo-engineering. TUESDAY Eight Legged Freak [Movie] 11.54pm on Italia 1 (Channel 155) The residents of a rural mining town discover that an unfortunate chemical spill has caused hundreds of little spiders to mutate overnight to the size of SUVs. It's up to mining engineer Chris McCormack (David Arquette) and Sheriff Sam Parker (Kari Wuhrer) to mobilise an eclectic group of townspeople into battle against the bloodthirsty eight-legged beasts. WEDNESDAY Wednesday Movie: "50 First Dates" [Movie] 8.45pm on Melita More (Channel 315) Veterinarian Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) lives in a Hawaiian paradise with the company of endless women with no strings attached. This is until he meets Lucy Whitmore (Drew Barrymore). Both Henry and Lucy enjoy the company of each other and feel the start of a serious relationship occurring. Approaching Lucy the next day, Henry is confused when Lucy fails to recognise him. This is the moment Henry discovers that Lucy actually suffers from short-term memory loss and can't remember each individual day. Henry won't let this stop him and is prepared to make her fall in love with him all over again, each and every day. THURSDAY Mafia Only Kills In Summer S2 Ep.1: "L'Apostolo Rosa" [Drama Series] 8.45pm on Melita More (Channel 315) 'The Mafia Only Kills in Summer' mixes tragedy and comedy to tell the story of an Italian family caught up in an ongoing Mafia war. Intelligent and irreverent, it offers a unique and tongue- in-cheek take on the Cosa Nostra's brutal and bloody criminal campaign of fear and intimidation. Beginning in Palermo, 1979, the story unfolds through the eyes of one young boy, Salvatore, and his family. The new second season begins with Lorenzo and his family failing to flee the island and returning home. It's a difficult choice for the family as it means they are now in constant fear of possible Mafia retaliations. FRIDAY Chains of Gold (1991) [Film] 10.15pm on AMC Channel (Channel 312) In this action drama a good- hearted social worker embarks upon a one-man crusade to save Miami teens from getting further involved with a gang of crack dealers. The social worker does this in large part to ease his own guilt at having been responsible for the death of his own son back when he was drinking heavily. To save the teen, he pretends to be a dealer and infiltrates the gang. Starring John Travolta and Marilu Henner. SATURDAY Unfinished Business (2015) [Film] 9.40pm on AMC Channel (Channel 312) Tired of playing second-fiddle to his obnoxious boss (Sienna Miller), businessman Dan Trunkman (Vince Vaughn) quits and forms his own competing mineral sales firm. He takes a retiring associate (Tom Wilkinson) and a dim-witted sales applicant (Dave Franco) with him. After a year and a half of struggle, a promising deal is in sight – then promptly folds, thanks to Dan's ex- boss. Determined to save the deal, Dan and company fly to Germany, where a series of outrageous obstacles awaits. When the t wo reconnect as adults, many things have changed but the feelings are the same. Good Omens Set in 2018, the series will follow the demon Crowley (David Tennant ) and the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), who, being accustomed to life on Ear th, seek to prevent the coming of the antichrist and with it the final bat tle bet ween Heaven and Hell.
