8 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 22 DECEMBER 2019 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Music 1 JANUARY A New Year's Toast with the Gaulitanus Choir The Gaulitanus Choir's pro- gramme of events for the festive season reaches a climax on Jan- uary 1st, 2020, when once more it will musically usher in the New Year with the 8th edition of A New Year's Toast. This will be held at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, Gozo, on New Year's Day at 7pm. Entrance for the event – which is supported by the Kempinski Hotel, Bank of Valletta and Playpen – is free on a first-come-first-served ba- sis. As always, the chosen pro- gramme presents a festive mu- sical repertoire intended to set a positive mood for the year's start and to offer an ideal way to celebrate the New Year with oomph in a relaxed environ- ment. Hence, bouncy Festive Season numbers alternate with some acappella ones, whereas some exciting Verdi operatic choruses are juxtaposed with some excerpts reminiscing the choir's three concert tours abroad in the past year. Charm- ing numbers by the great Welsh composer Ivor Novello will complement the programme. For more information please visit www.gaulitanus.com. Theatre 26 DECEMBER Comedy Knights 007: Licence to Laugh Every year, the Teatru Sales- jan in Sliema hosts what has become for many, a must-see Christmas tradition: The Com- edy Knights' annual Christmas show. The cast features some of Malta's strongest comedy per- formers, as well as characters that have managed to enter lo- cal popular culture. Audience favourites such as the Bormla Babes, The First Lady and the Sliema Girls, are certain to make an appearance, while a vast selection of other sketches inspired by Maltese society and way of life will complete the show.
